It's Shakib and Mushfiq show: Bangladesh's world cup so far
It has been Shakib and Mushfiq show with the bat. Openers need to step up in the last 2 matches. Soumya is having a poor world cup. He has given some starts at the top, but never carried on. He is due a big score. Tamim is having a typically poor world cup with some scores but no 50's or game changing contributions.
Spinners are doing OK economy wise, but need more penetration. Miraz is leading the pack with excellent economy while Shakib, Mustafiz and Saifuddin each has 10 wickets.
Mustafiz has been very expensive considering his own high standard. Mash's economy is not too bad but he needs some wickets.

Our openers do need to step up.
Sarkar last two games looked so lazy when he came onto the field more relaxed than a West Indian on a hot day enjoying some Rum Punch. I think Tamim is just focused on seeing out the new ball which is fine however what he is not being able to do is improve the run rate.

Do you think Liton should open in the India game?

We aren't doing too badly with bowling. Our bowlers picked up 42 wickets in 6 matches. It's the economy which is bothering me.

I'm actually surprised Fizz has 10 wickets

42 wickets dont show the full picture. The eco is high because we have not picked much of those 42 wickets between overs 1-35. Wickets have come when teams were set and they were throwing the kitchen sink at us

^Actually his batting has been very good. Even if you take out his statistically most significant innings he'd be in top 15 with 45+ avg. He wasn't required to show up against WI. So the only time he really screwed up was against NZ.

If you consider our bowlers performance in the champions trophy in 2017, this is quite an improvement in terms of number of wickets taken. Probably it would have been even better if we had our match against Sri Lanka.

How can a wicketkeeper be on the list of most runs saved?

I am hoping to see a Soumya classic against India and Pakistan. Tamim has also been poor so far. Hope to see more contribution from him with a better SR

Nope. Rahim cost us the NZ match, and he celebrated his meaningless 100 with both hands raised.
It is only Shakib's show. No one else deserves to be on the same headline as him.
But the positives (sub headers) could be:
Rahim's reliable batting. Only run a ball getter in the team, along with Shakib and Soumya. Even finishers block first two or three balls to settle the nerves. Not these guys.
Mossadek's and Soumya's aggressive batting. That stat line does not do Soumya justice. He should not have been experimented with lower down. Needs to open all of the remaining games.
Lightning Liton's 94. I feel a performance like that separates winners and losers. I hope Liton realizes the talent he has, and works hard to become more consistent. As Shakib did before the WC.
Saifuddin's wickets. Takes a massive amount of flack, but continues to give breakthroughs every game.

Miraz fields at point; so I can understand him not saving any runs in the outfield. He has been good. Not to put the mockers on him (I hope he keeps it up). I don't think wicket keepers should be included in this list. That's very much misleading. They can have a separate list for them.

Roey, with due respect- that’s rubbish.
If we can’t appreciate contributions, we have no right to criticise.
NZ mistake was an unwilling momentary one. Taking balls before the wicket is the modern way of wicket keeping. Mushfiq got it wrong as his hand hit the wicket. That has never happened to him and accidents can happen.
He has batted superbly throughout the tournament and allowed batsmen to bat around him to build scores. Shakib has been exceptional, but Mushfiq is right after him in terms of contributions that made Bangladesh look like a solid team and win both hearts and matches.
If you bring his contribution to Soumya’s level for this World Cup, you either don’t understand cricket or blind hatred is clouding your judgement.

^ You can rank the sub headers as you wish. No worries. My main point of contention is that Rahim hasn't enough enough to hog Shakib's headline.

Yes I agree with Roey, There is Sakib and then there is rest, so far (in this WC) nobody accomplished enough to be mentioned in the same sentence with Sakib ( purely on basis of performance).
That's not to diminish Rahim's good batting or Saif's bowling or Musaddek's overall performance. But they are in the next level of performers. Rahim's steady performance with the bat was a BIG plus slightly negated by his WK.

I agree to the most part. But if he lost balance or something; I would call it an accident. However, its his immature excitement after playing for a decade that caused it. It's not the first time we suffered from it and I can bet it won't be the last either.

Amen. Somebody had to say that.
Did y’all forget the 2 points we dropped in that NZ game this early cuz I didn’t. This semi final scenario is bleak for that one reason and one reason only.
Otherwise it’s been a near perfect campaign so far.
But I am more than willing to forgive and forget if Mushy heroics get us to the promised land these last two games

Seeing NZ's batting after 5 wicket down I actually have some closure. Even if KW was out in that match we might not have won that
