Anyway, U/19 WC is more about exposure. Going to Super League means they will get to play three matches against three strong opponents one way or the other (play offs). Similar experience from 2012 WC in Australia helped guys like Soumya and LKD to face pace better. We also had Taskin from that bunch.

From this bunch, Saif, Afif, Hridoy, and Hasan still make me hopeful. Robiul is someone I am still curious about.

Not surprised at all. This team is not a championship material and apparently can't punch above its weight.

And don't get me started with those two umpires. Those two, at the very start of the match, exhibited their braindeadedness. They suck. Set the game right for England.

And what kinda shot was that from the senior player, Saif. I thought he was matured. He danced like tamim down the wicket. and the ball fell so gently into mid-off palms.

Ridiculous.

A scorecard from 2012 - http://www.espncricinfo.com/series/8...orld-Cup-2012/

That team had a strong batting line-up of Soumya-LKD-Nurul-Anam-Mosaddek (the first three were prolly not that well known back then).

I think Anamul and Mosaddek were the top two scorers of that batch. Most of them featured later on the National team.

BD is not longer even a half decent team at U-19 level. The time of us having a genuine shot at reaching the semis ended in 2012. 2014 team was in the plates, and the last batch only made the semis because we were playing at home and faced Nepal in the quarters (who almost beat us).

I just hope we produce a wrist spinner who can turn the ball or a seam bowler who is at least 6 feet tall and bowls at 140 kph.
Still didn't qualify for Semis before 2016 though.

I can't understand how Pinak has a higher batting average than Saif.

Can't perform against Canada, Namibia and of course not England.

Scored 3 or 4 ducks last time around in the very last WC. This time already has one.

Horrible in the domestics too.

I heard from personal sources that that BCB selectors were fed up and decided not to pick him in last Asia cup but it was the team management who requested to give him a last shot.

There by fluke probably he managed to score runs against weak India B and Pakistan.

Now he's back into his selves again.

Must replace the player next match.

Can't fault Pinak today, it was a crappy LBW that went against him. Replays showed the ball was pitched outside the leg stump.

^^ Saying that, I think Pinak is another Amit Majumder/Nazmus Sadat. He is not showing much of a resilience, prolly will phase out in few years.

Pinak seeming a bit like soumya? A couple of innings got him noticed but ultimately not very consistent...
