At this moment he can aim for returning in the test format that too depends on how he performs in the first class matches in the next couple of years.

IMO a corrupt person should never be allowed to represent their national team.

He made a mistake, he served his sentence. End of that! Now if he performs better then everyone he can comeback fair and square.

No he's not. He's as average as average could be.

If he earns his way back ok, but as far as I’m concerned, better off backing some young talents. Sure young talents aren’t stepping up but because of that we need to trial even more of the younger talents because if we don’t find any youngsters then the team is stuffed after shakib, mushy and tamim retire.

Question I’d be asking is can he do any better?

In this open poll in Prothom Alo "Na" is leading by 60% to 40%

It is OK to claim that the nation waits for the return of the true tiger.

(collected)

Another emotional piece but unbreakable logic,

There are two extreme schools of thought on Ashraful:

1. Those who will give him a free pass to entry into the national team right away
2. Those who will never ever wanna see him wear national team regardless of whether he scored a triple century and the fastest BPL century and took 7 wicket hauls etcetc.

I say we give him a chance to prove himself in BPL, DPL and First class cricket and then we should consider him for all formats dependjng on his performance.

Most of us know how Pakistanis can easily forgive their own treachery so easily. As they have the expression "KOI MAASLA NAHI". And Pakistani cricketers are no strangers to corruption that probably its common practise so no big deal for them.

LOL, this thread got resurrected. This is the most talked about, gossiped about thread in the history of BC.

Our ODI team, T20 team is pretty solid. No room for him at this moment. Unless he does something extraordinary in BPL, NCL, DPL dont see him making a come back to be honest. But we do need him in test team. His experience is a factor

I belong to #2.

When you fix a national game, I have no sympathy.

When you fix a game while you are a national captain...
When you fix a game and ask others to get on board...

I'd take no talent, jodi laigga jai romiz. and the loss with open arms. After all, we may have an upgrade here. At least he will not play for the opposition. 10 vs 12 is a mismatch already. Life advice: Never give a mole an inside track of your plans.

It does not matter what we judgmentally ponder in this already half-obsolete forum.

The little master will be back. Catch him if you can.

I also belong to #2. I dont think even if Ashraful hadnt taking bribes and played, he would be in and out of the team like an Anamul/Kayes (not they are the same calibre).

You forget to add the ICL saga. He and his Indian agent recruited his colleagues in ICL. Yes its individuals who are ultimately responsible, but he had a hand influencing them and giving them the impression that he is also going (which he didn't at the last moment).

Can BCB trust him coming too close to our young players like Mustafiz, Litton, Miraz, Sabbir, SS, Apu, Nurul, Hider, etc?

Pappon is Pappy but he is no dummy. We all know that Al-Amin vanished from national team not for his performance.

Yes BCB will say all the nice thing about the door is always open, but in reality under Papon, this is not going to happen.... whether you love him or hate him we know that he is not coming back.

It does not really matter what any of us want. We have to think realistically and currently there is no chance of him coming back. Our selectors have emphasized the importance of youngsters in our national team and no matter how much you perform in the domestics (Nafees, Tushar etc.), if you are past the 30 mark then there is next to no chance of you coming back. This is not just for Ashraful but anybody. Razzak was a one off event but I bet that in the next home test series, he won't even be in the squad.

As mentioned earlier, it does not matter what we preach here.
Find another cricketer in history who has a resume close to him.
