Wish we had a fluke like that, who would average 50+ after 60 tests and could score 150+ almost at all.

Comparing Sehwag with Ash? Koi agortola ar koi choukirtola.
If Ash was half the batsman Sehwag is, Bangladesh would have won 5+ tests already.

I completely agree with kalpurush bhai. What Ashraful needed is more practice, not changing his style of playing.
off-topic: nice to see babubangla bhai after a long time.

you know, Ashraful is brilliant, even his enemies admit that. is just that he plays those untimely shots on an untimely time, who does he think he is?

We are the one who are responsible for Ashraful's downfall. We failed to treat him right. When he is not performing continuously, he is still in the team! Untill now, he doesn't has a specific position to play!! We failed to have a psychiatrist for our kids for their mental development. If we can't act properly and professionally, we won't see any Sehwag in our team anytime soon.
Ashraful could be a better Sehwag only if we act properly.

This is a no-brainer: the reason Kirsten wouldn't want to change Sehwag's style is because Sehwag has done mind-boggling things playing his natural game on a fairly consistent basis which ashraful hasn't: many of Sehwag's big test knoocks were before Kirsten's era.
And I don't think Sehwag and Ashraful's playing style is comparable - I am NOT talking about on-field heroics which is nowhere near comparable. Sehwag has pathetic footwork, but unbelievably good hand-eye co-ordination, really good shot selection (contrary to popular belief) and an outstanding ability to carry on once he gets his eye in. When Sehwag fails it's usually because the bowler has got the better of him usually on pitches where there is movement taking advantage of his poor footwaork esp early in the innings. Ashraful's case is almost opposite - there is no obvious chinks to his technique but he consistently fails because his shot selection and concentration level are both pathetic. It makes sense to me when a coach wants to make him change.
But perhaps the biggest reason that wanting to change Ashraful's game sound sensible to me is because he is considered the best batsman we've got so he needs to be consistent rather than gung-ho which is not the case with Sehwag as he plays in a side filled with batting greats and goods of the era.

yeah, very very good analysis. i agree with you on each and every point. and of course, technically, ash is a better batter than shewag, although practically shwag is better. this shows how important in cricket is your concentration power.
