Default \"Ashraful looks to brighter future\" -BBC Interview

Bangladesh batsman Mohammad Ashraful has vowed to add consistency to his undoubted talent after a positive finish to their tour to England.
After failing in the Tests, he scored 259 runs at an average of 43 in the one-day NatWest Series.

The highlight was an innings of 100 against Australia at Cadriff, which set up a famous five-wicket victory.

"I thought before that I could score 100 in every innings, so my thinking was not mature," he said.

"I am more mature now. I know I can't get a hundred every game, but I can continue my form.

"I want to continue being consistent in our next series. I think I can do that against Sri Lanka.

"If I do that, then I hopefully will have got rid of the inconsistency tag. I don't just want to have scored runs in this series in England. I want to be a success all the time."

Ashraful became Test cricket's youngest centurion in 2001 when he made 114 not out against Sri Lanka aged only 17 years and 63 days.

But he had to wait three years for his next three figure score, 158 against India in Chittagong.

He believes Bangladesh are now set to finally establish themselves as a competitive unit in international cricket.

"In two or three years we can challenge anyone. At the moment, we get a good start to the innings and don't always catch up in the middle or late order.

"I think this can happen. I fe we can score runs all the time, we can challenge anyone," Ashraful added.

Bangladesh skipper Habibul Bashar, meanwhile, has urged English county clubs to consider signing some of his talented youngsters.

"I don't know if they are going to get any offers but I think Mohammad Ashraful, Shahriar Nafees and Aftab Ahmed are capable of playing at that level.

"I'd be very happy if they get offers and the chance to play in the county games. I hope the counties have been looking at some of our players."
