We heard the term," Gadha pitaye Ghora Banano",, 2008 introduced a new term, " Ghora Pitaye Gadha banabo".. yeah, lets make the players matured and Akram type..bhuriwala, bibahito ebong dui shontaner jonok wala, Except, I doubt that players would possess the termperment or cricket sense of Akram..

Don't diminish Akram. Akram has much better cricket sense than anybody (bar Sujon) in the whole BCB set up (That include our esteemed coach JS). His innings against the dutch in ICC is the best innings any Bangladshi player played under pressure. In a virtual Q/F against an underdog your team is tottering at 15/5. You are captain of the team who is expected to win the tournament he played a gem of innings of 68 in more than 70 strike rate with only three fours.

That is by far the best innings that any BD player has played in any format of the game.

all of SNs centuries are against really bad teams.. If we want to move up in rank we have to drop this guy, cuz obviously hes not good against better teams ... TI and Shakib Ashrafu; amd aftab are better international players ... we should find a replacement opener for SN asap

Dude,,, thats what I said, Akram had a far better cricket sense even when he was bulkier and older than Shahrier Nafees/Ashraful. In fact, I think all those players had much better brain than this generation,,, they played with heart/had the education/had the true 'gentleman' quality to play for the national team than the current bunch.

However, as gentleman as Akram is,, he is not being too vocal and taking a stand for the players he is selecting, thats where I have some issues with him. Thats a different discussion..

I have no problem if we had a opener who is seating cause SN is getting chance and he is better. But he is not. Trying out player is NTL has to stop.

SN at least plays better against small teams. So let him play and may be one day he will come good. In the mean time we need to groom some one in A/Academy team and give him the chance only when we r 110% sure that he will work.

We need to move away from our nature/habit of throwing players away just because he can't score against big guys or some thing. Tell me who will? Now if you put kayes in there he might do same as his friend ZN then what?

So stop your bickering about SN and let them play...

Default Shahriyar Nafees – He Can Do It, Don’t Write Him Off

Shahriyar's form and performance is a matter of concern which is putting the captain and rest of the team under great pressure.

One cannot blame Siddons much as it is difficult for a Coach to bring about major changes to techniques of a senior player.

We do not want to write off Shahriyar Nafees so soon. He was one of our key batsman and Vice captain of the team a few years back and he did put up a great performance against the World Champions Aussies.

We all remember his outstanding performance against the Aussies with great pride.

He later on played a memorable undefeated century knock against Zimbabwe in an international tournament in India.

The hallmark of that innings was his excellent pacing. First fifty he grafted and played every ball on merit. Once he crossed fifty he cut loose and treated the Zimbabwean bowlers with utter disdain.

I also noticed that his confidence level grew so high in that match that for rest of the fifty he played without a helmet meaning he was seeing the ball like a balloon and also hinting to opposing bowlers that your bowling is kid stuff I don't need a helmet.

BCB which has of late is making some good decisions on different aspects of BD cricket needs to look beyond Siddons to correct Shahriyar's shortcomings.

But honestly speaking if you watch Shahriyar's batting during the last World Cup, against Pakistan in Pakistan and recently in the Kitply cup he is technically nowhere near Tamim or Junaed or Raqib or Saqib. Just watch his shots.

Shahriyar is probably the most educated amongst the present crop of BD cricketers.

He was doing MBA. Has he completed ? He is at ease and very fluent with the media . Those are plus points. If he can voluntarily take a break and work on his shortcomings he might have a good second innings .Cricketers like Gautam Gambhir who was left out of the team because of some shortcomings took advantage of this by doing soul searching, working hard on the faulty techniques and on comeback has turned into one of the top batsman of the Indian team these days

I am sure Shahriyar will come back sooner or later after correcting his techniques.

My good wishes to Shahriyar .

You can do it Shahriyar!

Our prayers are with you.

Allah Hafez.

Cheers!
