An interview with Jamie Siddons: Please post your questions here
It has been good 15 months since we published his interview ( Siddons plans Tigers Uprising) and the scenario has changed significantly in the last 12 months. Bangladesh is now a winning outfit. I think this is a good time to hear from our coach again.
He has kindly agreed for a second interview to set out his vision for the next couple of years leading to World Cup 2011.
Please post your questions in this thread. Last date of submission of questions is 31 December 2009 18:00 GMT.
Many thanks for your cooperation.

1. Mr. Siddons, what is your view on the no. of pacers that should bowl for us in a ODI and a test match? Are we going to see a 2-men pace attack in the World Cup in 2011?
2. We currently have four spinner all-rounders- Sakib, Riyad, Naeem and Kapali, as well as a specialist in Razzak. How do you go about in deciding who is to be playing in a match? Do we currently have one too many bit-and-pieces player in the team?
3. What's your favourite Bangladeshi food? How do you rate our food?

Question: Concentration is the key to the success for any batsman. It is disturbing to see some of our top batsmen laugh and chat with the opposition fieldsmen even at critical stages of the innings. I hate to think that some of our batsmen don't concentrate enough while batting. What is your opinion on that?

It would be nice to wait untill the end of tri-series to talk of second stage, I guess. Depending on tri series performance; good /bad; I'm sure there will be a lots of genuine questions. IMO, We have not been tested enough to say that he has delivered on those promises yet.
Infact nothing to ask at the moment, if he keeps quiet and the players try hard, we will insha-Allah get a balanced side in 2011.

It is clear that we are relatively weak in facing fast swining deliveries. My understanding of the trick to playing swinging balls is to play late and with soft hand. Where does our batsmen stand in that regard? As an example I think Ashraful has a very good eye and is able to play the ball as late as some of the best batsmen in the world. Yet he gets out caught behind the wicket so many times. Is it the technique of our batsmen that is holding us back or is it the mental aspect of the game that we need to address.

Do you think that we can win the 2011 World Cup?
Do you take Twenty20 as seriously as Tests and ODIs?

1) I thought the granite slab practice was an excellent idea. When are you going bring that back?
2) How do you break down opponents tapes? Does all the players watch the video tapes if you have any?

Thank you very much Miraz bhai. As Shardul said with out you....

how is his health?
Is feeling any discomfort because of that.
and some silly questions
how is his gf(or wife) feels about bangladesh or dhaka?
when is he going to get married(if she is his gf).
If he is going to get married soon, then is it going to be in bangladesh and in bd style?(like holud, borhani etc).
I agree with him that either ash or aftab should play one at a time for bd but not both. when did he realized this?
Why are we so bad in fielding when once that's all we were good at?

Salaam Coach mamu!
1. What is your favourite brand of shampoo?
2. Do you prefer Beef Bhuna over Chicken Tikka?
3. Did you try Hajir Biriyani? What do you think of the taste?
4. Do you go to the same barber in Tejkunipara or you go Italian by the New Market?
5. Would you come to dinner to my house if I personally cook for you, for you mildly spicy!

Arrey salaam dear Mafiz bhai,
he (the barber) is called Shantoo Napit inside the 3rd chipa golli of tejkunipara! His operation is by the side of the golli over the drain under an umbrella! Very good napit!

First of all thank you for your constant dedication in improving Bangladesh team. Now as you know we fans expect nothing less than great things from the Tigers. Realistically it may be a far cry to win the 2011 World Cup especially with our weakened batting side, but what pragmatic initiatives BCB must take now to at least put the dream of reaching the World Cup final in the realm of possibilty?

Thanks to Miraz bhai for this undertaking. Much appreciated.

My Questions:
1.If you have the power to choose any foreign cricketer from any country, whom will you enlist to BD's current team? why?
2.What will be your choice/decision if Bangladesh play World Cup final 2011..(wining the toss) i)Batting first ii)Bowling?
thanx....

Only Qstn: Does this group of players have what it takes to be the world-beaters? or will we have to wait for the next (or even further) generation of players until we get a team capable of being ranked number one?

My gratitude to Miraz bhai and Mr. Siddons
* Like you coach, I see a good cricketer in Zunaid and Rubel (RBX). Could you please share your thoughts?
Give us 2011, we will give you 160 million lives.

What is the generic "Game plan?" And what is your explanation on "Act according to the game plan" (from players), with few examples/scenarios.

not a question. more of a suggestion.
please dont take the batting powerplay on the last 5 overs of the match (granted wickets in hand). its practically a waste of powerplay. those are slog overs anyways. during the 2nd new ball on the 35th over maybe, or at 40th over, depending on how set or new the batsmen are.

Here are few of my questions:
Q 1 : Do you really analyze the opponent players (strength n weakness) before any match and make a game plan for our players ??? or. in other way, How do you approach before every match ??
Q 2: If no player obeys your game plan or order, do you punish them ??? if so, how do you punish them ? if not, then why not ???
Q 3: According to your prescription, What is the best medicine for Bangladesh Cricket ????
if you can include any of those questions, i will be glad !!! thanks !!

1. how would you rate the BD cricket team at the moment. when you started as coach there must have been some targets in your mind. if you have to rate them, what % of those targets has been achieved and what is still lagging behind ?
2. How do you see the run-up to the WC, what are the strengths of this team and which aspects still need to be improved ? how would you go about addressing those points ?
3. which of the current young players do you see as particularly promising, if any ? anyone we should look out for ?
4. what can be done to improve the level of domestic cricket in bangladesh so that the players who finally get entry into the national team are reasonably mature and mentally tough by the time they get in. have you advised BCB on this ? are they working on your points ?
Best of Luck !
