Hi Ian,
Its so good to see our National team's coaches on this board. I want to ask you few questions.
Q. According to you, who is the most improved bowler since you have taken the position ?
Q. Few of our local bowling coaches have pointed out our pace bowlers lack in reading opponent batsmen's mind. To what extend do you agree/disagree with them ?
Q. If you are offered to take coaching position of "Age Group" or " Development Based Team" in Bangladesh beside part time bowling coach of National team, will you consider ?
Lastly, Thanks a ton to all the coaches who are working hard and soul to live up our dreams. Appreciate your efforts.

Man, you'all asked the questions I wouldve asked. I am excited to hear his response.
Welcome coach Ian Pont.
1. There is a concern of the pacer's death over bowling in the subcontinent because of the flat wicket. I presume you are working on that issue. How are you preparing for that?
2. If you had to work with 3 players outside the 15 selected. Whom would you pick?
3. Are our pacers fast bowler or medium-pacers to you? Whom do you think will increase his pace in the coming years?
4. Are you training the women's squad too? Would you want to? I thought I would ask...

In RBX (Rubel) I see the future, do you see that too?
Could you please share some of Rubel's trait which are most essential to be the very best bowler?
Thank you coach for your time at BC and coaching our beloved Tigers

Man, Ian is working up quite a backlog of questions. Here are mine:
1) Syed Rasel appeared to offer us ODI control in the style of a Chris Harris, Chaminda Vaas or Martin Snedden. Yet he seems to have fallen out of reckoning lately. Any thoughts? I've always felt he lost a yard or two because he didn't bowl with an upright wrist and didn't drive through his delivery
2) We have had a few 1 hit wonders such as Sajedul Islam and Mahbubul Alam (Robin) - both of whom impressed in spurts. Sajed seemed to be capable of bowling longish spells of medium fast with an economic action while Robin seemed to be the best pure swing bowler we have. Have you worked with them at all? Thoughts?
3) Would you be interested in starting something akin to an MRF Pace Academy for Bangladeshi players? Be the visiting lecturer if you will. All 3 players mentioned above would probably benefit.
4) In lieu of a full HC stint, would you be open to (provided other aspects worked out) a role of High Performance Unit manager? Essentially the head coach of the "A" team.
5) For the match with India, I would hazard that we should go with 3 pacers as their batters have traditionally been able to milk our spinners plenty during the middle overs. Any thoughts? (I'm not expecting the team selection here, just what are some of the points to consider here)
6) What's with the 1000 Friend limit on FB?

Coach, in the last series against Zimbabwe we saw Shafiul's pace hover around 130 with a max of 139. Was he bowling within himself and can we expect him to bowl quicker during the world cup?
Also, as BC's biggest Shahadat fan, I took notice of your comments regarding Shahadat and how he reminds you a bit of Stuart Broad. Do you have any idea why his pace has dropped and how we can get it back up?
thanks.

my guess is he's tired of idiots spamming his wall with non-cricket related things. the number of people jabbering on in bangla on his wall about things as irrelevant as the thermodynamic arrow of time probably has something to do with it.

Agreed that our strength is in our spin bowling. We have the best spin bowling ODI unit in world cricket in my opinion so it is obvious we will look to utilise that.
The quicks have a VITAL role to play. The new ball can swing, and the old ball can reverse swing. We saw Rubel destroying NZ with early wickets. Shafiul has learned to swing the ball away to right handers. Nazmul has some of the best disguised slower balls I have ever seen. These things make our fast bowlers a threat at certain times.
But it is a swinging cricket ball that causes problems. This is how Zaheer Khan for example has been so deadly despite not having express pace.
We have been working hard on swing and also on controlling where the ball lands. If the guys can do that at higher speeds then they will make a big impression.

will you please stay with the Bangladesh Cricket Team beyond the world cup? I know this is a personal question but it seems to me that you and Fountain have been doing a wonderful job with us, and my question really is, in the absence of a coach or a bowling guide like yourself, how do you expect the fast bowlers, the current group of fast bowlers to keep up the good work. what needs to be done by them?
I fear that it may be BCB will not extend your contract after the world cup, and I as a follower of Bangladesh Cricket feels that this decision will hurt Bangladesh Cricket in the long term. so if offered a long term contract, would be ok for you to continue with Bangladesh Cricket Team?
what is the best part of your job?

Ok here we go:
1. Will express pace be really effective in the subcontinent roads?
2. Will there be any reverse on offer with the white ball? Especially since there is this mandatory ball change in place.
3. What's more important in your opinion - taking wickets or constricting the flow of runs?

Thanks in advance.

1. Fastest balls (not consistent speeds but fastest) they have bowled I think are: Shafiul !40, Rubel 147 and Shahdat 148.
2. We don't need surprises we need consistently good bowling.
3. Most improved bowler is Shafiul by some distance. he can lead the attack for many years to come. Potential to keep an eye out for is Rabbi who plays at Sharihar Nafees club.

My question to you is how is the preparation going on for the WC?
You are working with Rubel's bowling action. How effective will Rubel be with the new style?
How do you like Dhaka so far? What is your favorite place?
Thank you again

Preparation is good and on track. We are not working on any bowling actions just before a World Cup. However we are trying to help the bowlers to be more consistent. I find the people really friendly but the traffic is shocking. I live in Gulshan so only really know that part of the City.

Any bowler will only increase their speed if THEY want to. Both Shafiul and Shahdat appear to have done that recently but the work I can with them is limited.
I do not have them to work with 3 times a week as I would have liked because they are either playing ODI's or playing club cricket. The training camps do not allow for the time to take any bowlers and teach them the painstaking drills they need to increase or correct faults quickly.
It takes TIME to change an action and improve things. The bowler needs to go away and do the 'homework' of skill drills to help. I have the knowledge to help them but not the time or accessibility to get to the bowlers and do it.

The openers Rubel and Co. will be face in this world cup include Sehwag, Gayle and Smith. They will particularly target our faster bowlers, as they are the perceived weaker link. How do you think our young bowlers will handle, not only the biggest stage they have played in yet, but in addition to that, batsmen who are hell bent on hitting them out of the ground all the time?
