Default Bengali Test players in Indian Team

We all know Shourav Ganguli. We also know Wridiman Saha. How many other Bengali players played Tests for India?

I heard about Ambor Roy, Gopal Basu. Delip Doshi, M. Sami, etc. are from West Bengal, but probably not Bengali? How about Arun Lal?

Is there any other Bengali players played for India? Raquibul Hasan is the only Bengali played for Pakistan ( he was the 12th man against NZ). Only erstwhile East Pakistani played Test for Pakistan is Mohammad Niaz, but he was non- Bengali. Nasimul Gani is probably another Pakistani Test player used to live in Dhaka.

pankaj roy. played 43 tests for india
he is best known for establishing the world record opening
partnership of 413 runs , together with Vinoo Mankad, against New Zealand at Chennai . The record stood until 2008.

His father Pranab and nephew Amabar too played for India, they never made it big though, although Ambar was a much feared name in the domestic circuit

Bengalis cant play cricket...let it be Indian or other side of the border.

Saurav was the exception. He was lion hearted like me.

You need Punjabi power #Kohli #Yuvi #Ishant

You are being sarcastic, right?

West Bengal may not be the prime supplier of players for the Indian cricket team, but it is doing a more than decent job considering the infra and prospect there is not half as good as say Karnataka and Mumbai. Two of the regular members of the current Indian team represent Bengal in the domestics, I hope you know that, regardless of their ethnicity they are the products of WB cricketing culture.

Ai hai.. Another Punjabi power snobby comment. So you admit you lied about being a Kolkatan Bengali yourself?.

Do remind us all here. If any Punjabis from Indo or Pak taken two 5fers? in his first two ODI matches?

Bengali mithai and wimmen are too sweet and too much of a distraction, so the focus required for sustained excellence in sports is hard to achieve!

Haryanvis dwarf the rest of the subcontinent when it comes to medals per capita be it athletics or any other sports. They are truly a league above other ethnicities in this regard, Punjabis and bengalis both underachieved in sports, in my humble opinion

AND manipuris. AND they do it with far worse infra and financial support than anyone else.
just look at the fiery lady in my DP. absolute legend, multi-time world champ, olympic medalist while at the same time being a mother of 3 in a state suffering from creaky infrastructure and political unrest.

True that, I refuse to believe we don't have world class sportsmen among a billion Indians,it is just that our mindset is too traditional (Study is good, sports are bad) and priorities are misplaced

heard the same from many Indians. my boss (who is hyderabadi) always says "[my name] is Bengali and they have beautiful women" to others. I don't know how to react but wonder what is so beautiful about Bengali women. they just have distinctively wide eyes and a soft look.
