Ofcourse he was. His spot is to trade with Mullah based on current squad. Being the VC of the team, I don't see Mullah is axed by the team management.

I'm glad Enamul got into the squad. Naeem's unfortunate to miss out. Surprised to see the selectors recall Sajedul. He hasn't done that much in recent years. Our pacers have been hopeless in Tests. If he can do well in the Tests that may open the doors for other pacers and we can get rid of lazy bowlers like Shahadat.

Team as expected, with only one surprise factor.
Though 2 balls in a T20 match shouldn't be the measuring stick for picking someone in the test squad after 5 years, I guess the selectors were left with no choice given the supreme performance of our current stock of pacers.

Sajidul possible couln't do any worse than the 4 R's in the team, Rubel/Robiul/Rajib/Raju.
If anything, we might as well try out his "ul" factor, which seems to be working for players in our national team. Jokes apart, his left arm gives a variety in our right handed "phaast medium" dept.

Even though it would be unrealistic to expect anything other than 'damage control' from him, but if he can come up with some good performances, this could be one of the biggest fairy tale come back stories in our cricket.

Sajedul needs to shed some lard off his booty before he can start being effective in long spells.

I don't think Taskin is a solution either. Too young and raw. Yes, even Abul doesn't have any domestic performance to back his cause, but two wrongs don't make a right. Two rights can make a right, which means neither Abul nor Taskin gets picked; or in other words, Abul is handed his retirement pension now and Taskin isn't picked until another couple of years have passed.

I don't see why we can't go with pacers who are more regular in the FC scene. I'm sure they are below par, but they can't do any worse than a 100 off 12 overs or a 50 off 4.

^^ The ONLY reason I can think of Sajidul's selection is him being a left arm bowler.
Most of our pacers are right handers and when the selectors decided to go for a wild card, probably thought they might as well go for one that will bring a little bit variety to the attack.

Robiul - Right arm fast medium
Sajidul - Left arm fast medium
Gazi - Off spinner
Enam - Slow left arm

Then you have the part timer:
Riyad - Off spinner
Mominul - SLA

sajidul is also known to swing it, another reason why he may have been selected.

probably because naeem is a middle order batsman whereas jahurul is a top order batsman and tamim might not play the 1st test so they need 3 opening options. anamul isn't available for the series and he was the other opener in the squad for the last series, jahurul performed better with his chances anyway. i wish they'd picked someone else instead of SN.

if naeem was to get selected it would have to have been at the expense of either mominul (who did really well last series) or riyad (didn't do well but he's the VC).

Shows we're developing some depth when a centurion from his last series can't find a spot in the team.

I think we have to persist with Jahurul. Give him 5 more innings to prove himself at least. We dont have anyone else that is worthy at the top of the order. He is much better then the rest of the dropkick crew (i.e. Nazza, SN, JuSi)

yeah i reckon he should get a couple more series, been solid, still no big score which is an issue but solid and he's consistent domestically. next options would be anamul and shamsur.

Shahadat played the 1st test against West Indies then got dropped, and he also played the 1st test against Srilanka and then got dropped. I wonder if the team management forget his recent performances when a new series starts.
