External Monitor Help

Hey guys I cracked my Laptop Screen but I have used my external monitor for the past 2 years now when I turn on my Laptop the Windows XP logo comes up and than Monitor goes to sleep.

I can only run the External Monitor on VGA mode (8bit Color) ... so it's really an Eye Sore If I change the resolution the monitor gpes to sleep.

Any Ideas?

fn + F5 does nothing to me

I have an Acer Aspire 5000

I fixed it ... reinstalled the video card and than changed the primary monitor on the display properties
