10 years down the line - Would you like to see Mash as Head Coach?

The title says it all. What do you think?

After his retirement and given he is willing to go that route, do you think BCB should prepare Mash for a coaching role?

Discuss away with your reasons.

PS - Dont get mad. I am just bored. Its a national holiday in Switzerland, so lazying around at home.

Frankly I wouldnt take him as a bowling coach.

If he gets the head coach role, then all we need is specialist coach in each dept. (bowl, bat, field, spin etc)

Team manager role suits him better.

He can also be a coach at domestic level. BPL perhaps

Not a head coach. A manager, replacing the bhurri that's currently occupying the position.

A manager with some selection role. He'd be better utilized then.

If not head coach, at least a bowling coach.

If you watch him closely, he's very close to the fast bowlers-Taskin, Al Amin, Fizz. Always speaks to them, advises them, sometimes positioning himself at mid on. Very animated.

Over the years he's also become more of a thinking pace bowler. Seems to have obtained a lot of technical knowledge.

Maybe BCB should start by giving him the reigns of the Under 19 team or sth. Mash will be much better as a mentor to players than a manager who spends his time fixing itineraries, making logistical plans.

Or we can take a leaf out the Indians and make Mashrafe "Director of Cricket team" (like Ravi Shastri) who works along side the coach.

Some captains don't have what it takes 2 coach,I can think of our former captain Michael Clarke good onfield captain,terrible person and selling everyone out to sell his book.Would be an awful coach.

From what I see a manager or mentor,maybe later a bowling coach or selector.The present coach at Bangladesh is a whiz.

well, initially, he should be made the team manager and during off season, should work with the HP unit. Gradually push him up to be the assistant coach and later down the road, he could become the HC. Him being the HC would have a lot of perks.

Do you think he has what it takes to be a coach,he is too polite and too introverted i thought.
Darren Lehman was not test captain,and was a knockabout larriken,also a great player of spin,and he works well for Australia.
Before him we had Tim Nielson who was more introverted,whereas Lehman can have a joke with the players,give encouragement and talk tough.
Seems the Bangladesh coach is similar,and is Mortaza as creative in his ideas.
John Buchanan was a hopeless cricketer but could think out of the box,where as Greg Chappell as a coach caused poor esteem where ever he went.

i have it on good authority that Mash's man management is similar to Haturi's in that he tells it as it is and doesn't hold back. But on top of that all the players have too much respect for him as well. So his style is super effective.

But hey, if he really wants to be a coach, I am sure he will take the steps that he needs to take to be a coach.

10 years down the line, I want a super coach. Someone better than Hathrurisinghe. Someone better than Kirsten. Someone who will be to us what John Buchanan was to Australia in its prime.

was John buchanan really the force behind australia?..when you have the team that Australia had at that time you dont need that much coaching.

Buchanan's other ventures after Australia weren't that great

First and foremost: I would like to see him involved in Bangladesh's cricket OBVIOUSLY

I dont think he will make a good head coach though at best bowling consultant. However we might see him in the position of the selection comittee. however i want him to take Sujon's post when Mashrafee retires.

True. Warne hates him for sure. But Damien Martyn says he revolutionized Australian Cricket. Difficult to say how much contribution he had,but his coaching record is one of the best.
