Default Recent South Africa player losses

Mostly whites so far. Will SA be the next Zimbabwe?

Players lost so far:

Kyle Abbot
Riley Rousseau
Dane Vilas
Stiaan van Zyl
Simon Harmer
Hardus Viljoen
David Wiese

Who will they lose next?

Do they have enough whites left to remain viable?

The domestic scene will take a kicking as Lorgat has said sides will be ltd by kolpaks they can pick.
Also their are a few whites near retirement.
Imran Khan and Darren Smidt just retired,Smidt a victim of quotas,he could end up at Derbyshire.

The domestic scene will be a ghost town, with some Black and coloured players not up 2 standard in domestic leqgues,it could be filled with white kids with virtually no experience.
S Africa will continue to win,but their back ups are not there,if their is injury.

Their new revamped domestic T20 league looks doomed with all those white players gone,
Their are some good black and coloured players in the domestic scene but with quotas of 6 and possibly 7 next year, their are 1's that are clearly underdone.

What happens is it means a big difference between first class standard and internationals, easy runs and easy wkts.S Africa will be dependent on A tours to develop,i'd suggest some of their under 19 squad which is quite strong atm.

Their U19 just lost to Zimbabwe, and was crushed by Zim in the world cup last year. Cant be too strong.

They still have the talent ceiling but it is going to affect the level of competition all the way from lower levels up to international which means players will find it harder to achieve their ceiling and thus be successful at the international level.

South Africa going down will be a bad bad thing for cricket

Hopefully they will be more sensible than Zimbabwe...if not they'll fade 10 years from now.

I hope the same, barely 10 nations play cricket seriously, really can't afford any further shrinking

Hopefully they realise that a quota system isn't needed, what is needed is to put funds, coaching, infrastructure and facilities into the less fortunate areas, rather than quotas. Teams should be picked on merit.

SA should compromise and lower the quota from 4 to 3

8, maybe 9. Zim are associate level at best, even that is insulting to associates like Afghanistan and Ireland.

WI also seem pretty clueless.

We need the Irish and Afghans as test nations so we have at least 10 viable serious cricket nations.

20 years from now adding Nepal and one more nation will be good.

12 serious Test nations would be the ideal number.

Its interesting Saffies/Windies/Zombos in,Irish and Scottish out of county cricket.
Seems to be the end of the Scots and Irish love affair with county cricket.
