Agreed. Averaged 60 per innings since 2017 till WC. This failure is purely mental. Not sure why he didnt chose to play aggressively when the usual approach wasnt working.

In 90’s, there were jayasurya, kaluvitharana, hayden, gilchrist, saeed anwar, amir sohail etc. he stuck somewhere alright. Dont exactly know where. Tamim should hv been the performer with the bat pretty much along the line of shakib. But he failed match after match.

I am more concerned about our bowling. Absolutely no penetration with the new ball. We seems to wait till teams get to 150 for no loss and try to hit out. The odd chances we get, we drop. Some serious work needed to find pace bowlers that can pick wickets between overs 1-10.

He had a hundred against England in the Champions trophy if i am not mistaken. also scored a 95 against Australia same Champions trophy. This world cup he was pretty poor barring that 62 against Australia, even there he ran Soumya out and was slow...

He plays well in bilateral series but in big tournaments his batting is horrible. Most likely he will play for 3 to 4 more years and then retire. He should be considered for test only. Mashrafe might play Sri lanka series and then retire he is yet to make a decision.

So basically from the article, he can’t take pressure. Well thanks for admitting the obvious. As an experience player for more than a decade, you should welcome challenge, pressure and overcome it. Thats what shakib, mushy and even riyad 2.0 does.

Anyway, like the OP mentioned TIK is not the weakest link in the team. Hope by now we're somewhat over our disappointment of losing to Pakistan, so let's not throw the baby out with bathwater.

I know it's tempting to replace Tamim with Liton in the ODI team. Liton is still enjoying being a little known player in international cricket. Back in 2015, we felt certain Soumya is the next megastar to come out of Bangladesh. It took teams a year or so to figure out which areas to bowl to him and which field to set up against him, and he is still struggling to reestablish himself in international cricket.

IMO, a better approach will be to give Soumya-Liton a trial in T20I, till the 2020 T20I WC, knowing Tamim is not a good bet in T20I or in a WC anyway.

BD players are mentally weak ad they are, they should be well clear away from social media especially during ICC events, important series’s. Let someone else deal with their accounts, if they have someone dealing with it, to post pictures or news regarding something. But they themselves should be banned from it, by BCB for them periods. To avoid more mental instability. Just be off it completely and focus on your game. I know you can’t avoid it all together as this is the social media youtube generation, but social media like FB, Twitter, even Instagram needs to be avoided by BD players during events. I know most of them love FB. And in FB there are so much nastiness from trolls and haters. And good love from supporters too no doubt but the trolls outnumber the good.
