Is this a duplicate thread? I think it needs merging with http://www.banglacricket.com/alochon...ad.php?t=24257

We can only hope and pray to Allah that this is a turning point for BD national cricket and especially for our young players who now have to believe in themselves that they are talented, they need fine tuning and have to get rid of their recklessness especially our young captain who incidentally I adore, but not when he opens his mouth to speak.

This means that Shaun Williams can now go back and concentrate on what he does best, i.e. mentor academy players.

This also means that four years from now (or whatever the duration of the contract will be), Siddons will coach Indians, be it at the national or some other level.

Siddons is coming tomorrow to sign a 2-year contract.

Quote:
Australian coach Jamie Siddons will arrive in Dhaka tomorrow morning to sign a two-year contract with the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB), as coach of Bangladesh cricket team.

An assistant coach with the Australian team, Siddons accepted a handsome offer from BCB, worth close to $300,000 per year.

Siddons is a really good coach. He brings a lot of knowledge in batting and fielding. One of the great slippers in his time. Not too far behind the greats Marc Taylor and Mark Waugh. He has a tough aussie mentality and hopefully this will rub off to the players. Biggest problem of BD cricket team...well there are many. Lack of good fast bowlers (there's only one bowler who can do some damage in most pitches), lack of turning spinners (thus the existing ones are only adequate for limited overs game), absence of batters who can consistantly bat for long time and average 40 in ODIs and tests, and lack of good slips fielder and outfielders. What we have few individuals who can on their days shine heavily and go in dormant phase for the vast majority of times. That's what we need to change. Can Siddons help Bd change the old habits? I sure hope so. The first thing he needs to do is make individuals accountable for their actions. Secondly, I would love to see a batsman emerge under his guidence. If the team doesn't improve that much and let's face it it's the individuals that make a good team so I would like to see at least one person who has DEVELOPED a sound technique and can score heavily on any surface.
Right now there's no real difference between Ashraful, Aftab and always failing Afridi. If our best batter's compared to someone as useless with the bat as Afridi, that in itself is shameful. I will leave it as that.

Welcome coach on your new assignment. I hope you would be able to install the aussie mentality in our batsmen and the team as a whole.

A warm welcome to Mr. Siddons. He has an excellent domestic record and coaching experience. So I'm glad he accepted the offer. Let's hope he can guide our team forward with his wealth of knowledge and experience.
