I think we have to give some credit to Derby. They put up a good fight and were very sporting. If BD A was in the same position they might not have declared so early in the 2nd innings.

Definitely. I've said it before, and I'll say it again. Derby deserves credit for playing to win, not settle for a tame draw.

I am not happy. Top 8 had a decent start and no one could continue. What was the hurry? Had one stayed around a little longer the match would have been over long time back. Had to rely on the 10 and 11 batsmen. I hope the coach gives them some earful in the locker/meeting room.

Gratz BD A,but I am not happy with the win that much, because we were underestimated, that means we didnt face them with their full strength,I don't think winning is all that good when your opponent thinks low of you,its like derby wanted to lose .

bhai the hurry was that asking rate was 3.7 an over.
had the rate been 3.0, we should theoretically been able to chase an even bigger target.
280+ is a decent target to chase in 4th innings. we have to remember that derby average age and experience trump our A teams. KJ Dean has over 400 FC wickets by himself!!! rogers has nearly 10,000 FC runs!
we must keep a balanced perspective

Great that they won. Hopefully there will be positive side effects...confidence carried into the SA game.
Saying that, I hope the SA field a depleted side, especially with no Steyn. Our batsmen need game practice coming out of each innings.
While promising, the runs scored show us how much work our pipe-line players need to do before becoming national team content.
Also, dissapointed that Tamim, Mushfiq, Raqibul, and to some extent, the back again after a while Shakib, did not proceed to larger scores.
The bowlers just proved that Rassel needs to re-gain form/strength asap, and Shahadat needs to continue improving.

Yes a win, good to see the A team finally having a win, the facts they are:
packed with national team players,
playing against Derby's 2nd string,
winning due to Derby declaring a bit early
basically under estimating us a bit too much,
by 1 wicket.
Could have gone either way.
Can't agree with the complements like a "Great Victory" etc etc. Are we in so much of a drought of victory?
Basically A face/A$$ saving victory.

3.7 in perfect batting condition is no excuse to get back to the pavellion. More over everyone got a start. Atleast saw 30 balls.

Derbyshire v Bangladesh A, Derby, 3nd day
Bangladesh seal thrilling one-wicket win
Cricinfo staff
July 23, 2008
Bangladesh A 190 and 285 for 9 (Iqbal 60, Sajidul 5*, Needham 3-53) beat Derbyshire 298 for 6 dec and 176 for 8 dec (Smith 52, Al Hasan 3-49) by one wicket
Scorecard
Bangladesh A survived a fine comeback by Derbyshire's bowlers to record a thrilling one-wicket win on the final day at Derby. Sajidul Islam, the Bangladesh No.10, struck the winning run to squeeze his side over the line off the penultimate delivery.
A Bangladesh win seemed highly unlikely when Derbyshire declared shortly after midday on 176 for 8, setting the tourists a challenging 285. However, Tamim Iqbal crashed 60 from 69 balls, lofting three sixes in the process, to give Bangladesh a terrific start. Iqbal and his captain, Junaid Siddique, put on 84 for the first wicket.
Derbyshire never gave up; in fact, momentum switched entirely to their favour when Greg Smith removed Mohammad Nazimuddin (19) and Shakib Al Hasan in quick succession. When Raqibul Hasan offered no stroke to Wayne White, Derbyshire were slight favourites needing another five wickets.
Like Derbyshire, Bangladesh refused to give up hope, as Mushfiqur Rahim (36) and Dhiman Ghosh put on another fifty partnership, while Mosharraf Hossain clipped 31 to leave his side needing just 12. But further drama ensued when Gosh, Dolar Mahmud and Hossain all departed in quick succession leaving Bangladesh's tail needing five from the last over. A three flicked off his legs by Sajidul calmed their nerves before he glided the winning run to seal a remarkable one-wicket win.
Bangladesh's next match is against the South Africans at New Road on Friday.

oh, i agree. however, a win is a win. and this one wasn't so bad. as cricinfo said, a bangladesh win was highly unlikely.
mind you, i thought derby would declare far sooner, and our target would be 250 and not 284. i fully expected us to either reach 150-8 with a 2.5 run rate and draw the match, or at best be something like 225-5 and draw. and i thought we had a 50% (or more) chance of losing by crashing to 180 all out.
i would have given these boys a 1% chance of chasing 280+ in 75 overs. i am not only pleased, but surprised.
we have to take small steps. beating a crappy county side is a good first step.

a win is a win no matter how unconvincing it is, good time to win as well tbh, just in time for the south africans so hopefully this win fires the boys up for that match.
