“This tournament is a good platform to judge the players before the Vijay Hazare Trophy… A chance to test the bench strength,” said MCA XI coach Pravin Amre. - Telegraph India
We are testing our national team bench against their state team bench, still losing so badly! This is really sad.

To be honest, Bangladesh is is merely 2/3 or half of a single state in historical Bharat/Hindustan/Greater India.
There are 2 main resources: population (ie player base) and infrastructure/finances. Population of BD is 160 million, less than that of UP, and comparable to Bengal, Maharastra, Rajasthan, etc. Finances, we are inferior. BCCI is composed of what, 20-30 regional state based cricket associations (Punjab, Bengal, TN, UP, etc). Cash wise, BCCI makes more than just 20-30x the amount BCB earns...way more now that they are robbing ICC coffers...in't tours, IPL, ICC events...they make a killing. Thus the average state has access to more funds, at least in theory, than Bangladesh does. If not Maharashtra, then UP, if not UP, then TN. Further, the bigger states would naturally get more money than say Haryana or Assam or Tripura.
Factor in the developed infrastucture and facilities these states have at their disposal. Relative tiny cities like Vizag, Patna, Pune, Gwalior have hosted ODIs and thus have better facilities than major BD cities like Sylhet, Khulna, etc. We are Dhaka centric to the max.
Thus you cannot compare Bangladesh to a Maharastra side. It would be more fair to compare Canada to the state of NY or California.

Surprising isn't it? That SL win cups and and NZ make the semis every year. Whatever their model is, it works and whatever we are doing isn't working. If our population was, 30 million like SL, we would still be in WCL division 3 losing to Nepal, Bermuda, and the US.

Its funny that. He seems to do well against the club cricketers, warm ups but crumbles in the real thing. Tells me that he is not suffering from lack of form but lack of skills. Hope I am wrong.

BCB won the match by 74 runs
Nasir 74 (75b)
Naeem 61 N.O.(80b)
Shahid 8-2-24- 3
Arafat 10-1-38- 4
Naeem 7.1-0-55- 2
Naeem batted pretty slow for #7 batsman who batted from 23 overs to the end. But he should be given credit for holding the innings together after early loss of 5 wickets. Also made some useful contribution with ball.
Right now Mumbai has two wins, other three teams one win each. Based on result of Mumbai-Karnataka match tomorrow, BD may still qualify for the final based on NRR (given Karnataka lose to Mumbai badly).

Few of these players played in the IPL. The likes of Goswami, Shukla and Saxena. hardly street cricketers. A lot the of the state 2nd string players would be either in the A or our national team

Let's hope we can sneak in, in some way.
Good to see Nasir with back to back 50s. He should be back for our 3rd Test if Marshall fails. Naeem still proving he's our best backup middle order batsman.
Arafat also making a case for the ODI team although it could be tough with Taijul and Jubair performing well. Shahid has been impressive as well

pretty disappointing tournament for the batsmen really.
naeem did ok in the last match but in the other matches got a duck and only 4.
nasir got 2 half centuries in 3 matches which is good.
anamul's highest score was only 44 then he got 4 and 0.
imrul got a ton but he also got a duck and then 17.
liton was especially disappointing with all scores under 20 in 3 outings.
shabbir couldn't manage any score over 25 in 3 innings.
soumya similar to anamul got 40 but his 2 other innings were single digit scores.

^^So, bascially Nasir is the only one showed good form in the tournament.
Anamul is making his selection to the Test team look ridiculous, unless he is being considered for his keeping ability also.

great summary backed up by numbers..pretty much sums up the ongoing slumps of the backup players and inconsistency..Nasir will be back soon unless the new middle orders justify their selections and but who knows if hurrying him will have adverse impact on him.
