It's pretty obvious why they are contemplating canceling the Test matches and the series against WI/Zim. The stadiums (SBNS and ZACS) are nowhere near ready for the World Cup. Playing matches would mean postponement of construction work which should have been done long ago. And to hide their own incompetence BCB is using the team as scapegoats. I wouldn't be surprised if the NZ ODIs are held in Fatullah, Khulna, Bogra.

Oh yeah, the same BCB who didn't give a fart about 1 test series, followed by Asia cup, and again back for an ODI series in England? You must be kiddin me

2 months rest is fair enough, gotta play test matches, that's the strength of BD, and it's the blunder of the century to cancel the series, which would've been an engrossing contest. Darn.

Five ODIs in place of two Tests?

Sports Reporter
The upcoming New Zealand tour to Bangladesh could only have one-day matches due to the upcoming World Cup early next year.
The schedule was supposed to have two Tests and a three-match one-day series but it could well be replaced by five one-dayers between New Zealand and Bangladesh.
According to sources in the Bangladesh Cricket Board, New Zealand Cricket (NZC) had initially asked them to shift the two Tests after the World Cup, resulting in BCB's plan to host the five-match one-day series.
A decision hasn't been taken on the matter but it is looking like a good option ahead of the mega one-day event to be held in February-March 2011.

^ I'm ok with that. As long as we don't lose the test matches completely. If we cancel it than we might never get these matches, as oppose to if we post pone it we can have it some other time. Beside with the world cup coming up its more important that we focus on ODI's. Specially after our recent tour its looking pretty scary for us. Anything we can get at this point we should take it like there is not tomorrow.

How long does it take to hold freaking interviews? and how long does it take to make up their freaking mind? August just started? Why the heck they gotta wait till September to get to a decision? How long have we been hearing about bowling and fielding coaches being interviewed? Also World Cup is so close and how come there is no talk about the preparation for world cup? Also Why in the world would they decide to do day night matches for the NZ series? When our entire nation is suffering from electricity problem day in and out. you would think they would want to hold the game during day light and save some money but nahh.

Nothing to be shocked about Rafi bhai. The 2-Test series will be played after the WC. So nothing to worry about. NZ will play 5 ODIs instead of 3.

So, it has been finally confirmed that the Tests against New Zealand have been cancelled ...err..postponed. And here, I was thinking that this was the best chance to win against NZ as they are weak in our conditions. I also wanted to see Tamim score some more Tests Runs and was looking forward to see if he could become the highest run scorer from any nation in tests this year but now, he wont get the chance. I think Tamim i one of the leading run scorers in Tests so far this year

About the term "Postponed" it actually means "Cancelled" according to the definition given in BCB dictionary. Do you really believe these Tests will be rescheduled after the World Cup? I mean look how many Tests have already been postponed, if I remember correctly, all the Tests that we were supposed to play in India, the Tests against Australia, they all were "Postponed" too,. Unfortunately BCB doesnt care or even remember about those Test matches and doesnt pressure ICC or the Aussie and Indian Cricket Board about those postponed Tests. I doubt BCB gives a damn. Likewise, I am sure BCB will never pressure New Zealand to play those pending Test Matches after the World Cup. They are as good as cancelled

I dont believe this Nz board. They earliar skipped one test match when we toured in their country. Tight schedule, IPL, too much hot, security, rainy season, matha betha, pet betha...they will find many more reason to skip that series too.

The over all scenario of Bangladesh cricket looks pretty disorganized at the moment. There are all kinds of issues popping up before the world cup. To mention a few:

1. Poor performance through out the year and finaly losing miserably with IRE + Holland
2. Coach assistant coach is not in goo dterms.
3. Players crediting asst coach for their improvements, isntead of high profile/paid coach
4. Coach delivering rubish policies through out the year and finally out of stock of ideas
5. BCB officials serial resignations
6. Sellection committee has three months extention, not even covering the WC
7. Stadiums un prepared yet for WC
8. Cancellation of NZ/WI tours

.... Did I miss some big one?

Over all I think, our cricket is in very bad hands ... A-Z

this BCB is killing our cricket. They don't know the value of TEST. hence don't care. just want to make more bucks out of ODI.[..]

the truth comes out

so they never really cared about our improvement in world cricket

proper nurture, proper guidance could very easily turn a few name not mentioned players into chaunderpauls, pietersons and dhonis, sangakkaras, vaas, umar guls

Sis, NZ needs the Test series more than us. They don't get to play many Tests like other top nations. So I think these 2 games are safe.
