bangladeshi batsman's have to play very carefully against this mendis guy who allready took 9 wicket in this asia cup, he took 5 wicket haul against UAE the other day and 4 wickets against pakistan today.

Stats and trivia

The year 2007 had just two instances of Bangladesh batsmen making centuries, but since March this year, four have already been scored. Tamim Iqbal's 129 against Ireland broke the drought, followed by hundreds by Shakib Al Hasan, Mohammad Ashraful and Kapali.

my advice to nazim or team: let nazim play his "natural game".

i want a matara hurricane innings from nazim. thats the only way, he can treat us.

Exactly.
They should give a player enough chances before sending him back to the lower level. He should get atleast 10 matches in a row to prove himself. If he fails then he should be dropped from the squad and sent to the A-team or Academy.

Junaid should have been given more chances as well. He never got a 3 matches in a row. He played 2 match, failed and then got dropped, which was a big mistake.

Nafees has been given way too many chances. He should be sent to the A-team to play in England.

Team balance would be the only issue with the side I posted. Injuries and form aside, I think that is our best XI and should play every ODI.

With the poor form that Shahriar Nafees is in I don't think he'll actually score many runs (I hope he does of course), so Mehrab Hossain Jr would probably be about his equal with the bat right now. A definite class below him though. I'm not really a big fan of Farhad Reza either, hence my unwillingness to have him in the XI. If the pitch was seam friendly then I'd probably play him, but as it is I think Mashrafe and Shahadat will be enough. Obviously once Rasel comes back from injury he'll go straight into the side, allowing us to play three specialist seamers.

It's good that Jamie Siddons has faith in his players, an encouraging sign for a young side who are lacking confidence. I do hope that this faith is consistent though, and shown for all players who may be struggling.

I would definitely support this. No doubting in my mind that Nafees is a very classy batsman but he has been desperately short of runs for a little while now. Allowing him to play for Bangladesh A could be a positive move for his career, hopefully he scores plenty of runs and regains his confidence.

Maybe Athar should get back on the selection committee than? I don't think the XI has been named yet, Siddons did have that WTF did you do look on Nazim's face, Commentator did say he was a bit unlucky that it didn't go for 4, I would suggest him to bat like he does in the 20/20's but if he's out early it's puts alot of pressure on Ash to deal with the new ball so early, thats why you see lots of leading edges and he's trying to learn the cut shot and he's missing alot with it, nothing wrong with the shot selection if you bowl that length best option would be the cut shot but Ash isn't on Javed level with the cut shot.

Hello Kalpurush Bhaiyya,

Congratulations to you for this wonderful thread that you have opened for BD Cricket team Vs Sri Lanka Asia Cup match scheduled for tomorrow June 30 2008.

Designwise ,Contentwise it is second to none. Full Marks to you!

I have just one suggestion on this thread that of the picture of Ashraful.

It appears to me (no offence to you) that in the picture Ashraful looks jaded, pensive and giving the impression that he is short of confidence.

On the other hand Mahela’s picture has his character personified. A very appropriate picture typical of Mahela Jayewardene.

I have a picture of Ash from a CNN link that shows him fresh, smiling and all confidence.

Here’s the link:

http://edition.cnn.com/2007/SPORT/09...y20/index.html

The only problem of Ash photograph in this CNN link is his Jersey as this was the one BD cricket team wore during the World 20 02 0 .This picture was taken after his match winning knock against West Indies.

Having said the picture of Mahlea Mahela Jayawardene on this thread does not show him in his national jersey. So from that perspective it should b okay.

A fresh confident looking Ash photo will do full justice alongside a confident and fresh looking Mahela Jayawardene as this will have both of them in same phase off course photowise .

Hope this helps.

Allah Hafez.

Cheers!

Our toss bhaggo seems to be very suprosonno in this Asia Cup. Hopefully we will win the toss today and bat first. To have any chance, Bangladesh Captain Mohammad Ashraful will have to rise on the occasion against the toughest opponent of Bangladesh, which conversely if his favotite opponent
