BD have zero batsmen who can entertain in a T20 match. Look at openers like Phil Salt, Alex Hales. Meanwhile, BD got bunch of Mehidy's and Sabbir.

Siddons should be fired. Our batters have gone worse under him. Domestic performers like Munim and Bijoy had been confused by Siddons' attempts to change their techniques as well.

I blame BD pitches. When you play matches and score around that every game, you start believing that it's a good score and this halts any batsmen from developing any real t20 skills. New coach or not, this is not the way to go.

Nazmul Abedin Fahim makes the argument that if Soumya is given a trial of 2-3 matches next, he will play with the pressure knowing that Shanto is waiting on the bench to replace him. From Fahim Sir's tone, it seems he doesn't have confidence Soumya can play well under this sort of pressure. While he wants to see Litton restored as an opener, his opinion is to continue with Miraz or Sabbir on the other end.

A prothom alo report today makes the argument why neither of them should be continued with:

নিউজিল্যান্ডের উইকেট বাউন্সি, বল স্প্রিংয়ের মতো লাফ দিয়ে ওঠে। হারিস রউফের ১৪৪–১৪৫ কিমির বলে সাব্বির যে শটটা খেললেন তাঁকে ঠিক পুল কিংবা ‘শর্ট আর্ম জ্যাব’ও বলা যায় না। আসলে যে উচ্চতায় তিনি বলটি আশা করেছিলেন, সাধারণত ওই লেংথ থেকে যে উচ্চতায় উঠে আসা বল খেলে তিনি অভ্যস্ত, ক্রাইস্টচার্চে বল উঠেছে তার চেয়েও বেশি উচ্চতায়। তাই শটটা না হলো গ্লান্স, না পুল না শর্ট আর্ম জ্যাব। শরীরও ঘুরে গিয়েছিল আগেই, সামনের পা ঠিক জায়গায় ‘প্ল্যান্ট’ করতে না পারায় নিজেই বেকায়দা পজিশনে দাঁড়িয়ে বোলারের হাতে ক্যাচ তুলে দেন। এর একটা অন্যতম কারণ হতে পারে, বেশির ভাগ সময়ই সাব্বিরের অনসাইডে টেনে খেলার প্রবণতা, অস্ট্রেলিয়ার বড় মাঠের উইকেটে যা রীতিমতো আত্মঘাতী হতে পারে।

আজকের ম্যাচের আগে বিসিবির এক ভিডিওতে দেখা গিয়েছিল, মিরাজ নেটে হাফ ভলি লেংথের বল তুলে মারার অভ্যাস করছেন। বোঝা গিয়েছিল, পাওয়ার প্লে–টা ব্যবহার করতে এই কৌশল। কিন্তু মিরাজ সম্ভবত ভুলে গিয়েছিলেন, নিউজিল্যান্ডের উইকেটে হাফ ভলি নয়, বেশির ভাগ ডেলিভারি একটু পেছনে, থ্রি কোয়ার্টার লেংথে পড়বে।

উদ্দেশ্য একটাই, বল যেন তোলা যায়। পাকিস্তানের বিপক্ষে অবশ্য একটা হাফ ভলি পেয়ে দারুণ একটি ছক্কাও মেরেছেন মিরাজ। তাতে অবশ্য টানা তিন–চার বলে রান বের করতে না পেরে তাঁর জোর করে মারার অদ্ভুত সব চেষ্টার কদর্য ছবিটা মুছে ফেলা যায় না।

আসলে নিউজিল্যান্ডের উইকেটে ভালো ব্যাট করতে পেছনের পায়ে খেলার দক্ষতাটা একটু বেশিই লাগে। তা মূলত বলের বাড়তি বাউন্সের কারণেই। কিন্তু মিরাজের স্টান্স দেখলেই বোঝা যায়, সামনের পায়ে খেলার একটা তাড়না সব সময় তাঁর মধ্যে কাজ করে। সেটি দেশের কম বাউন্সের উইকেটে খেলার অভ্যাস থেকে বোধ হয়।

যা–ই হোক, ছক্কা মেরে পরের তিন বলে রান না পাওয়ায় মিরাজ সম্ভবত একটু উত্তেজিতই হয়ে পড়েছিলেন। নইলে মোহাম্মদ ওয়াসিমের গুড লেংথের বলটি তিনি জোর করে আড়াআড়ি খেলে সীমানা পার করার চেষ্টা করতেন না। এই যে অপরিণামদর্শী দুঃসাহস, তা তো একঅর্থে বোকামিই।

অস্ট্রেলিয়ায় যে ভবিষ্যৎ অপেক্ষা করছে, তার একটু নিদান দেওয়া যায়। অস্ট্রেলিয়ার উইকেটে নিউজিল্যান্ডের মতো বল স্প্রিংয়ের মতো লাফ দেয় না। কিন্তু জায়গামতো ফেললে বল বুকসমান উচ্চতায় উঠে আসে। ভালো গতিবান্ধব। এবার কল্পনা করার চেষ্টা করুন, ভারত, পাকিস্তান ও দক্ষিণ আফ্রিকার পেসারদের বিপক্ষে অ্যাডিলেড, ব্রিসবেন, হোবার্টে ওপেন করছেন মিরাজ ও সাব্বির। হুম, চোখ দুটো স্বয়ংক্রিয়ভাবে বুজে আসে। আরামে নয়, ভয়ে!
