"We were one bowler short, drop Kapali bring pacer Rasel in next game. In batting we were 10 to 15 runs short, Aftab and Javed should have scored more. Finally our spinners just took ONE wicket but gave too many runs!!!! That should be improved, otherwise no series win is there!"
We need to improve on a lot of things starting from tomorrow. First of all, we have totally misjudged the wicket. We should have played with 4 seamers - Shahadat, Mashrafee, Rusel and Forhad Reza, the newcomer. Secondly, we were 1 bowler short, as you said. Thirdly, our batsman needs to bat better than they did. Only Shahriar Nafees got some runs, whereas others were set, but did not do enough to do justice for their names. And number 4, if we continue dropping catches even against Zimbabwe, then we're not gonna win a single match, let alone a whole series!
And did you see how many overthrows and mis-hits were there at the stumps? One commentator said that is where the difference is between an average side and a good side.
Well, we can't blame the players, really, for not caring enough playing these matches. Our selectors have been making so many mistakes, why should we blame only the players, when our selectors chose completely 2 new players when it is just a year under before the World Cup?
Just think of the consequences if we lose both the series vs. Zim & Ken right before the World Cup - we'll be really ashamed to even play in the World Cup.
Hope the fun part is over for our players, now.

Alok + Aftab + Ash gave 70 runs for 9 overs! that's what cost the match.

Zimb playerd with heart. Our bowlers were so expensive especially Rafique and Razzak. Can't believe it that they gave so many runs and two batsmen had 150+ partnership even loosing 5 wkts in 100 or so runs. I don't think BD can bounce back again as they are demoralized now. And Zimb remained quiet and our big mouth showed us the reality. We better stop big mouthing and play like Zimb.
Mash, Shahadat kudos to you guys for taking 7 wkts. And what a show by other bowlers. What will be our next game now we all know the result.

On top of that Rafique and Razzak gave away 100 runs from 20 overs, and took only one wicket.

Razzak conceding 24 runs in 2 overs really killed us.
Ashraful's little cameo didn't help our cause much either.
And once again, Mash has proven that he can't bowl at the death.
- True, very true.
Our batsman haven't yet learnt the art of scoring a century, they're still satisfied with a half-century, sometimes even scoring 20s and 30s.

I hope this was the 'wake up call' that I was hoping for. May be by winning the next 4 matches, we can deny this if anyone says that our ODI series at home vs. Zimbabwe was just a fluke.

I agree. Some players in BD like staying in the 'basement' - consolation: at least they have a job. Fans: have frustration and dejection.

I can and do believe it. Our spinners were never good outside the subcontinent. Just look at their records.

drop golla & kapali. new badly need rasel today. and golla is good for nothing. and as long as we have a captain who is an idiot, we will see this kind of results.
our players have a lot to learn from zimbabwe. shahriar nafees was ok. but every other batsman sucked. ashraful, basahr & kapali got out when they were well set

"consolation: at least they have a job." I wonder how long they can continue to have their jobs, like the media says, only Bashar and Ashraful will be encouraged to play for Bangladesh because of their sponsorship deals provided that our selectors remain seated in their jobs and the rest will just come and go as we have seen the evidence of it by watching 2 complete newcomers in the side just before the World Cup, with not many matches to go to get them established.

"shahriar nafees was ok.". I don't think so. But the sad part is that we will see all praises for him because he scored a mere fifty when everyone else scored just 20s and 30s.
It would have been 'OK', if Shahriar Nafees had scored a century and couple of others had scored half centuries. We are so much used to seeing this that we can't see the real deal inside our players - they're just too satisfied with too little.
When we are supposed to be the favorites, then how come its OK when just one player scores 70 odd and we see our opponent, who're supposed to be 'not' favorites, they score two 70 odd runs and wins the game in the process?

Looks like we failed every department of the game.
I only followed cricinfo, didnt notice too much of overthrows and mis hits though. Hope they dont lose their confidence and concentration. But we have to give the credit to Zimb too, they played really well after losing 5 wicket.

we need rafiq in the team but we could replace abdur razzak with rasel. javed is good for nothing so he should be replaced by rajin. and kapali did a little with the bat but his bowling sucked. our part time bowlers couldn't do anything and we can't play 5 bowlers and thats our main problem. we have a decent pace attack.we should play 3 pacers and 1 spinner.

It is just a matter of learning and not making the mistakes a second time. For example, I'll be completely mad at Whatmore if he doesn't try Forhad Reza out as well as lets Russel to play in the places of Kapali, and Razzak.

To me...BD players - young and old, have not yet built a winning mentality in the professional game even though they won some games recently..they are soft with a "sitback and see" attitude.

I am confused now.."Rajin is not good any more" heard in this forum already. So where is the solution for all these flopped guys. Stay away from international cricket until you learn basic skills and application - just a thought.

We can play with 5 specialist bowlers if Saqibul replaces Kapali and Rasel replaces Razzaq.
Saqibul is as good as Razzaq in bowling (infact his bowling was way better better than Razzaq in Bangladesh A teams tour, few weeks back) and he can also match kapali's batting abilities. So going with Mashrafe, Shahadat, Rasel, Rafique and Saqibul would allow us to have 5 specialist bowlers and not weaken our batting too. We would be better off by avoiding taking bits n pieces cricketers like Kapali and Farhad.

bangladesh and zim are same in strength and capabilities that is why the matches against them are always so balanced.

frustrating, very frustrating. especially when we had them at 101/5. let's see how they do in the upcoming games. anthing below 4-1 will be unforgiveable.

Kapali, Golla, Razzaq must be out tom. Farhad Reja probablly getting a chance for his bowling.( I don't know how much speedy he is. If he is like Aftab then Sakib should get the chance) Rajin should be in the place of JO and Rassel in place of Razzaq.
But we have to field much much better to win any ODI.
BTW, mashrafee and rajib bowled nicely today. Well done.

247 is not a safe score in any odi now a days.we simply did not put enough runs on the board and we also did not have a dependable 5th bowler.ttoday, the 5th bowler slot cost us the game.reza will probably get a call in the next game.

The 5th bowler fiasco should have been irrelevant. Many good sides have this problem. They live with it.
Our problem remains at the consolidation stage of our batting. Between overs 20 and 40, we went from 94/3 to 172/4 i.e in 20 overs we scored 78 for the loss of only one wicket. Zimbabwe , in the same span moved from 63/4 to 180/5. They also lost only one batsman but took advantage for that. We did not ! We never do because our stars do not want to run singles. Hitting stylish fours does not win matches. It's the hard grind of taking one's and two's that makes the difference.
I believe we lost about 20 runs there and that is why we ultimately lost.
But, after all that, hats off to Matsikenyeri and Chigumbura. They deserve all the plaudits. If two of our guys had done this, plots of land would have been allocated by now !.
