Sonia Mirza's ranking in the single's hasn't been good lately but she is a great doubles player. i think she won the Wimbledon (or some other grand slam) with Mahesh Bhupati couple of years back. I hoped she would settle for some other tennis star but I wish the couple well. As for Serena Williams .. doesn't she already have a boyfriend? I would love to see her and Andy Murray hook up now that he's been dumped by his GF for playing too much PS3 .. LOL!

Malik I think is the biggest shameless liar. He married that girl when he was not a star. Later he denies getting married to her and makes up all those weird stories about being cheated by the girl and her family. He should have divorced her if he was no longer interested in her. Shoaib Malik claims to have been cheated and deceived by her but public sympathy in Pakistan seems to be with his alleged first wife Ayesha Siddiqui if an opinion poll conducted by a television channel here is anything to go by.
A show on Geo TV on Shoaib's much-anticipated wedding with Indian tennis star Sania Mirza put a question to the viewers, asking "Who is in the wrong in the Shoaib Malik and Ayesha Siddiqui controversy."
During the show itself 62 per cent of the polled votes blamed Malik and only 38 per cent said Ayesha was in the wrong.
Since Ayesha broke her silence and produced the nikahnama of her marriage with Shoaib, there has been widespread sympathy for her from the Pakistani people particularly after the press conference held by her father and mother on Friday night.

বলিউডের চলচ্চিত্রের মতো মনে হলেও কয়েক দিন ধরে দক্ষিণ ভারতের হায়দরাবাদে ঘটে চলা মালিক-সানিয়া-আয়েশার বিয়ে নিয়ে ঘটনাটির প্রতি মুহূর্ত ক্রমে নাটকীয় হয়ে উঠছে। গতকাল সোমবার সকালে হায়দরাবাদের অতিরিক্ত পুলিশ কমিশনার আর রবীন্দ্র রেড্ডির নেতৃত্বে জনা ত্রিশের একটি সশস্ত্র পুলিশের দল হায়দরাবাদের অভিজাত এলাকা বানজরা হাউস টাউনে সানিয়া মির্জার বাড়িতে হানা দেয়। পুলিশ এ সময় শোয়েব মালিককে প্রায় দুই ঘণ্টা জেরা করে এবং মালিকের পাসপোর্ট ও ব্যক্তিগত তিনটি মোবাইল ফোন জব্দ করে। ঠিক একই সঙ্গে হায়দরাবাদ পুলিশের অন্য একটি দল বানজারার শোয়েব মালিকের স্ত্রী দাবিদার আয়েশা সিদ্দিকার বাড়িতে গিয়ে তাঁকেও জিজ্ঞাসাবাদ করে।
গত রবিবার আয়েশা সিদ্দিকার বাবা মাহমুদ সিদ্দিকি বাদী হয়ে মালিকের বিরুদ্ধে মানসিক নির্যাতন ও প্রতারণার অভিযোগে মামলা করেন। হায়দরাবাদের পুলিশ কমিশনার এ কে খান বলেন, মামলাটি গ্রহণ করা হয়েছে। পুলিশ নিজস্ব পদ্ধতিতে গোটা বিষয় খতিয়ে দেখছে।
মালিকের বিরুদ্ধে মামলার পরিপ্রেক্ষিতে রবিবার রাতে সানিয়া মির্জার বাড়িতে অবস্থানরত পাকিস্তানি ক্রিকেটার শোয়েব মালিককে ফোন করে হায়দরাবাদ না ছাড়তে নির্দেশ দেয় পুলিশ প্রশাসন। মালিককে জিজ্ঞাসাবাদ শেষ করে ফেরার পথে অতিরিক্ত পুলিশ কমিশনার দারকা ত্রিমাল্য রাও সাংবাদিকদের বলেন, জিজ্ঞাসাবাদের সময় মালিক পুলিশকে সহযোগিতা করেছেন। তবে তাঁকে গ্রেপ্তার করার বিষয়ে পুলিশ কোনো মন্তব্য করেনি। আয়েশার পরিবার তাঁর সঙ্গে বিশ্বাসঘাতকতা করেছে বলে পুলিশের কাছে অভিযোগ করেন মালিক।
সানিয়ার বাড়ি বানজরা থেকে মাত্র পাঁচ কিলোমিটার দূরে আয়েশাদের বাড়ি। তাঁদের পারিবারিক বন্ধু ডা. শামস বাবর সংবাদ সম্মেলন করে বলেন, পুলিশের কাছে আয়েশাকে বিয়ে করার সব প্রমাণ তুলে দেওয়া হয়েছে। এমনকি তাঁদের ছবিও দেওয়া হয়েছে। ২০০১ সাল থেকে এ পর্যন্ত মালিক হায়দরাবাদে ১৪ বার এসেছিলেন এবং আয়েশার সঙ্গে থেকেছেন। এ সব কিছুরই প্রমাণ দেওয়া হয়েছে। তবে ডা. শামস বলেন, সানিয়া মির্জার বিরুদ্ধে তাঁদের কোনো অভিযোগ নেই। কিংবা তাঁরাও চান না বিয়ে ভেঙে যাক। তাঁদের শুধু দাবি, মালিক যেন আয়েশাকে তালাক দিয়ে সানিয়াকে বিয়ে করেন। কারণ, আয়েশা নিজেও মালিকের সঙ্গে থাকতে রাজি নন।
এদিকে মালিকের পাসপোর্ট জব্দ করার পর পাকিস্তান সরকার সাবেক অধিনায়ককে সব ধরনের সাহায্যের ঘোষণা দিয়েছে। গতকাল রবিবার দুপুরে নয়া দিলি্লর পাকিস্তান দূতাবাসে এ বিষয়ে এক জরুরি বার্তায় বলা হয়েছে, মালিককে দূতাবাসের তরফ থেকে সব ধরনের সহযোগিতা দেওয়া হবে। এ বিষয়ে ভারতের পররাষ্ট্র মন্ত্রণালয়ের সঙ্গেও ইসলামাবাদ ঘনিষ্ঠ যোগাযোগ রক্ষা করে চলেছে বলেও স্থানীয় সংবাদ মাধ্যমগুলো খবর দিয়েছে।

why the heall sania got involved with a shady Pakistani player? there were quite e few qualified Indian superstars available there.... considering her brand value she could have managed to get anyone she wanted

the story is that sania and malik both have other things in mind, namely becoming sports ambassadors for UAE. dubai has been investing heavily in sports infrastructure recently but has no sportstar to speak of. they are said to be offering good money to established sportstars to come and make dubai their base. malik has an apartment in dubai and the couple was expected to settle there, not in Ind or pak. malik's suspension by PCB gives him a chance to move completely to T20, PCL was perhaps a pilot project for a dubai based T20 tournament.

however, given malik's latest problems, he is going to be in a lot of trouble if the family of that girl so wants. already the AIMPLB (All India Muslim personal Law Board) has decreed that her marriage with malik is valid. malik is charged under 498a of the Indian penal code, which is a very harsh law and can ruin a person for life. malik's only way out seems to be buy off the girl's family with a lot of cash.
