This came in the match preview of Cricinfo:
"Andre Russell has been destructive against Dwayne Bravo in T20s - 175 runs off 88 balls and strikes a boundary against him every 3.52 balls"

Yet, Dhoni decided to bring Bravo in and continued with him despite Russell hitting 6's every 3rd ball.

so does Pat Cummins still get his IPL money? Injured players still get paid. Or is he considered not eligible. I could see this becoming a bigger issue where fast bowlers take it easy for any series 2-3 months before the IPL. Why kill yourself over a test match, when there's easy money waiting for you?

Why didn't CSK send Bravo instead of Jadeja?

Thrilling finish!

Bravo again! Jadeja almost became anti-hero, but hit the final 6 to chase down the massive total of 202.

Umpires. Called a no ball which bravo hit a 6. Plus the free hit fetched 2 runs. That is 9 runs of one ball. 17 of 6 became 8 out of 5.

I didn't criticize Fizz. But to compare situation ....

Fiz had the 11th man and a one legged batsman. Feeding him legth ball after length ball. Where were the Yorkers? One wicket would give them the victory. He is the prize bowler that is why he was bowling the last over.

On the other hand, V Kumar, lol, One of the most expensive bowler, happened to be the only option because Russell's quota was finished, and not having the bowler in the line up (Nagorkoti) facing Bravo and Jadeja.

I disagree. At least 8 of the runs scored off him were misfields. I understand when you say that Fizz isn't bowling as good as he was during his first two years (pre-surgery), but I think there are a lot of factors at play here. He changed his bowling action to become less injury-prone - which sounds like an excuse but it isn't.

When he first came in, he had the amazing ability to bowl 140 kmph and 120 kmph with the same action. To make things even more comically difficult for batsmen, his 120 kmph and 130 kmph deliveries were turning more than what most national-level spinners get. It was amazing, but it turns out that it was also not sustainable. Fizz was probably putting too much strain on his arm and shoulders, and ended up needing a surgery. He's changed his action, and is learning to become a very good and durable bowler. Let's give him some time.

I think what he's been doing since his surgery is very encouraging. Yes, his novelty is gone and batsmen are prepared for those cutters. These are international level batsmen batting mostly on roads using really good bats. He is a young and intelligent bowler who gets most of his wickets by deceiving batsmen, and not using any raw pace or bounce. Bowlers like him get better with age.

In any case, a look at his stats post-surgery show us that he is fighting off these early challenges and is shaping up to have a long and fruitful career.

2017 (his worst ODI season) - 14 wickets at 32.57 average
2018 - 7 wickets at 15 average (his economy rate of 3.24 this year is a whole run lower than his rookie year when he took 26 wickets at average of 12.34)

2017 T20Is - 5 wickets with 6.85 econ
2018 - 8 wickets with 9.18 econ (economy rate is too high)

2017 Tests - 16 wickets at 36.37 average
2018 - 6 wickets at 29.83

He is performing pretty well for most country's standards in all formats. He is 22 years old. I am still just as excited about him as I was after his rookie season. Let him keep playing, and keep learning to work out batsmen. He is the last of our worries.

Even if Fizz could have bowled better, Kedar Jhadav is no fluke, he is a regular in Indian ODI team.
Match was already lost when he came to bowl, Bumrah and Mclagen gave away 40 runs in two overs.

We are disappointed because we expected him to win it for MI.

In T20 cricket,

It's all about outsmarting the opponent at the very moment. Batsmen often predicting the next ball and setting his mind to play specific shot judging field placements. Same goes with bowlers. However, it's little more difficult for a pacer as he has less time/calmness to think listening to the captain and others, changing/watching fields and then sprinting for the next delivery while the batsman was just standing, watching, thinking and preparing. It's a lot different than Test cricket battles.

There are more Aussies in the commentary team than those in actual IPL teams.

So far I have seen Brad Hogg, Brett Lee, Damien Fleming, Michael Slater, Michael Clarke, Allan Border (?) in the comm team

Rahane said they were going to fix their mistakes from game one.

1. Rahane still opens, Grrrrr!!! No fixing.
2. Short, short of the crease again. Rahane involved in it. No fixing again.
3. Amazingly slow SR at Powerplay for Rahane 6(10). No fixing again.

Boult with a beautiful delivery to get rid of 'big fish' Stokes.

And Stokes goes back to pavilion, after the pressure created by Rahane's dot ball spree.

But that was an unplayable delivery by Boult. Nothing to blame Rahane for. Boult is just brilliant.

Unless Butler and Tripathi does something special (Sanju Samson is also on slower side) Raj will lose this game.

Next match Royals should bring in Stuart Binny.

Can't believe they have that legend warming the benches.

Austin would agree with me.
