I hope Mushfiqur Rahim is an exception to this.

93 pc of Tushar's runs came from boundaries and for Alok it's 77 pc. They should absolutely take more singles and doubles and keep it rotating

O Tushar in 30s!
lets hope he get to see the 40s, for a change!
He is still not running the ones and the twos! I wonder if he knows how?!

It was frustrating to see their tail rebuilding the innings from 72-7 to a respectable 225. Shahadat was very expensive once again. Russel looks to me pretty economical. And as Faruqe said, he has the ability to swing both ways in a tight line. Its also promising to see Talha taking wkts.
Maybe, and hope dearly that Alok will come out of his wretched form in this series. He is showing signs. That is positive. Good fight back by Alok and Imran after the disastoruos start. Nazimuddin is struggling in these conditions so far..

Does anybody know why Uppal C. is not playing for the gladiators? I do not know why does not play regularly for Sri Lank either! He can slog and is more than a decent bowler.

Rahim is our only capable batsmen after Tushar and Kapali. I hope they can have a monster partnerhip tommorow around 150 runs so that there is no xtra pressure on Rahim

It's a problem in one day cricket, but not in the longer versions of cricket. Because of aggressive field placement in longer version of cricket, boundaries are easier to get and singles are harder to find.

Good showing. But must continue to build innings. anything over 250 is a good score.

With due respect, I don't think we can fault our batsmen for not nudging singles under these circumstances.
I have seen enough county cricket to know what these opposition bowlers will try to do. Every county has 3 or 4 of the John Lewis type medium pacers on their staff who make their living out of hitting the seam on the off-stump and trying to get the ball to seam. They typically bowl with a 7-2 field with two slippers and 5 fielders in the covers between gully and mid-off and will just keep pegging away at that line till the batsman makes a mistake. Under these circumstances and especially on a first day pitch, the best you can do really is to wait for the ones too wide or too full and get them past the cover fielders for four.
I have gone on and on about the importance of singles in ODI cricket, but in this form of the game, wicket preservation is key and as long as they aren't getting out, I don't have too many complaints. I'd rather have them wait for the bad balls against medium-pace seam bowlers than get out by being adventurous, trying to nudge the ball onto the leg-side to rotate the strike. In short, I don't advise playing across the line. As long as they play with a straight bat and negotiate the seam, they will get enough bad balls to put away. After all, most of these guys aren't Test class bowlers and the wicket will become easier tomorrow and the day after.
