someone said last nite, after the NZ innings, that BD will win within 37.3 overs! And they did it in 37.5 overs! Amazing guesswork, I must say!

Bangladeshi batsman should learn from this match. The way they were batting, I almost had to call for an ambulance. I don't want that to happen anymore. I don't want to get any heart attack, cause I am still too young.

this mehrab, i dont think, is related to the senior Mehrab Opee.
also, i don't enamul haque jr is related to enamul haque. both were SLAs tho. i remember moni well. he used to have a glucose biscuit commercial on BTV in 1997.

i asked my mother, if bangalis, do the thing that some americans do. man names his son with the same name and adds suffix II or Jr. and grandson is III. she said no.

so i think that when people have the same name in bangladesh, we just make em junior even if they aren't related. in the US they don't do that.

perhaps in the future another enamul haque will come along and be enamul haque III despite not being related to either of the others.

The wides in humid conditions, plus the success of NZ bowlers would suggest that prodigious swing and swerve was in offer for the bowlers. Ours struggled to utilize it while the NZ ones thrived. However the pitch was probably very subcontinental - slow and offering something for the spinners. That combined with the Kiwi's unfamiliariy with spin enables us to book em for 175.

Wish I could have watched the match or talked with the coach to verify this hypothesis.

I've seen a 5-seconds long highlights on NTV news. It did look awfully humid with a typical subcontinent-type pitch. And the only delivery of a BD bowler which they included in that tiny highlight was pitched very wide too! So that was the norm of the game yesterday, i guess!

This may not be good enough performance to win all the way, but a win is a win. And this team has shown us how to win in close games even without their best performance. And that good for me.

I am pretty much sure, when the competetion will be tougher, they will elevate their perforamnce. So I am not worred, but looking for better performance in futre.

Its good to see that international media is ranking us as one of the favourites to win the world cup and probably this is the first time its happening!! We were never predicted to win the world cup in any level of cricket.

You can find a positive article about us on http://www.cricketworld.com/banglade...&sn=Bangladesh and

The important thing is :

1. BD bowlers managed to CONTROL NZ's batting and run rates even after NZ's 100 for 2.
2. BD batsman managed to WIN the match even after loosing early wicket 31 for 3, 78 for 5!

Only BAD thing was losing openers so early ( just for 5 ), otherwise the scorecard would have been so different. Everything was just fine, except those early wickets of openers. Losing openers too early and giving some extras can happen any day or with any team. But most important thing is they managed to make some PARTNERSHIP in the innings after early wicket fall, and taken the match home.

So, there is nothing wrong to be scared yet, and give the credit where it's due.

Good points. Both the batsmen and the bowlers showed trememdous fighting spirit in their bounce back after bad starts. Thats the number 1 quality of a championship callibre teams. I am so proud of these kids.

I am really proud of this U 19 side. They are doing excellent. At least they give us the chance to celebrate a BD win (whatever sports that you may include.....).
