Exactly. Even 2nd string Australian domestic side would help.

2015 test matches would be very tough for BD.. next year could be same as 2014. We need to play really good to avoid the loss. Good resultsnin WC will give us motivation to fight hard against these strong test nations in 2015

We will be playing quite a lot of competitive cricket AT HOME throughout the year. But what I am not happy about is the fact that we are not going to play a single bilateral series in overseas condition. I would have loved to see a tour to Zimbabwe or Ireland because it will be a competitive series in alien conditions. Playing other minnows in alien conditions will help our cricket develop more than playing SA/Aus at home.
However, nothing beats playing top teams in their home turf. I would love to see Bangladesh visit NZ atleast once in the next 2 years

7 Tests is not that bad. But how many ODIs are we playing?

If they're bowling on a pitch like we had in the Dhaka test.....have mercy on us...We made Elton look like McGrath incarnate

BCB should use their clout and override ZC here. One thing to be hijacked by the BCCI but ZC? Puhleez.

Not making the one dayers count for icc ratungs is a really cowardly way by the BCB,and teams can play up 2 15 players, not good prep for world cup really.

Apparently it's the ZC who is afraid and not BCB.

I really wish that we play the tourney but it would be great if they are televised but the chances of them are slim.

They don't want irish bragging rights over zimbabwe, that said ireland yet to fully replace johnston and rankin. And they don't want to lose to afghanistan again.

What's the big deal if Zimbabwe does not join? It will be a five team prep tourny instead of six.

Yeh well, still not one day status, which is no good.
Will be zimbabwe's loss if they don't go,will go in2 world cup without a handle on the associates whereas it can be bangladesh's gain. Also bangladesh can rest some players.I would keep shakib in moth balls, and get him to play in the big bash.

Mods please change the heading, for I am most displeased
"We had considered going to Dubai but we took everyone's opinion and decided not to go. We have informed them [the ICC] in a letter that we won't be taking part in the tournament. It will be risky to play in such a competition so close to the World Cup.
"After the current Zimbabwe series, the players will be busy in the Dhaka Premier League. So we don't want them to be too busy before the World Cup," Hassan said. "I have reports that Tamim Iqbal needs to rest, so we have to keep their fitness in mind as well. We have organised practice matches in Australia as we will arrive there early."
The decision means that the fifth ODI against Zimbabwe will be Bangladesh's last international game before the World Cup.

Yeah thread fail. Quite disappointing. I really hope IRE and AFG pull of a couple upsets as long as its not against us. Would be sweeter if that upset allowed us into the QFs!

Very good decision imo.
Playing against the associates in Dubai right before the World Cup neither was going to add any value to our team preparation, nor beating them should/would have boosted our confidence given after the current scenario of this series against Zimbabwe.
DPL is supposed to end sometimes around first week of Jan 2015 and we are scheduled to fly out to Aus on the 24/26th of Jan to play some additional practice matches before the official ones arranged by ICC. Those matches will carry far more value and significance.
Better not get into any meaningless things within this period of 20 odd days.

this is really sad news for bangladesh cricket guys , let me remind u if bangladesh needs to qualify for champions trophy in 2017 they needs to be in top 8 , currently if they can manage to win 5-0 against zimbabwe point will be 75 and west indies on 96 which getting closer , but what would be more good for rating is if bangladesh would've played in zimbabwe , let say 5 match series in zimbabwe than if bangladesh could've win 5 of them than rating point for bangladesh would been 80 which gets more closer , every time bangladesh win against zimbabwe rating 1 points go up , but thats not gonnna happen if its against more bottom rank team lyk afgansitan or ireland , after that we still would've world cup india and pakistan south africa series to qualify for champions trophy this is really sad that papon destroying with his brain

Bangladesh's loss i am afriad, lost the chance to have more bragging rights over the associates in friendly conditions.3 weeks before the world cup is not enough, they should have gone to australia in september/october like the assocaites,1 plus for the associates going in2 the world cup.

There was an offer to play practice matches against associates (Ireland, Scotland, Afghanistan, UAE) on Jan 10-24. The matches would have taken place on ICC Academy grounds in Dubai, where pitches are made of soils from Queensland and Western Australia. However, BCB declined the offer (so that Dhaka clubs will have the national players for the rest of the premier league).
Besides that, BCB arranged two more practice matches against Australian local sides before WC warm up matches start.

^^That I don't know. They will be in Brisbane for two weeks, prior to official warm up period for WC starts. So, perhaps, they will be playing against some local Queensland team.
