Tough call. You choose
If you could only have one which one would you choose?
a) An ODI win in Chittagong against NZ and clinch the ODI series
b) An ODI loss but a test win in Chittagong against NZ and thus at least draw a test series against a major test team?
+++++
This is a fun thread:
You can't have both. You can't have none. You can't have others.

dada bhai, my straight answer! test win in chittagong- simple! i will let go of a ODI series clinching in exchange of a test win and test series resulting in 1-1 not 0-0.
this is a very good thread mijan bhai, i like it very much. i have been contemplating about this and our options of result from the NZ tour! how it effects our fan psychology and etc. by portraying the picture this way you gave us some more valuable alternative hopes! if we lose the ODI in ctg, it's okay as long as we win one test match and the effect is so much bigger than an ODI series win(which is by no means any small achievement). but it will be so much of a greater joy for me to bag a test win NOW!

Test win, not 0-0 draw.
Order of preference
Test Series 2-0
Test Series 1-0
Test Series 1-1
ODI Series 2-1
Test Series 0-0

I'd love both. Why both can't happen?
Infact I would go for a ODI series win first, (Nogod first) and if we win that ODI series, The team will be so pumped up, you never know test might come as auto bonus !!

To see if anyone prefer ODI series over a test series draw (with a win and a loss).
Winning a test is no fluke. We have arrived. Getting 20 wickets is much harder than just topping the runs opponent score or restricting the opponents below our scores.
For me it is a test victory that I dream of. Even though I have not tasted an ODI series victory against a top team but I think sooner or later we will get there. Bound to happen. We have the skills.

Let's win the ODI tomorrow. We will start the Test series as favorites then.

Test to jittam phairtamno, so ODI win loiyene khushi tahi.
(can't win the test, I'll be happy with a ODI win).
We simply do not have the concentration and temperament in batting to win a test match. Last time we played a test match was back in February. Don't think our players even got to play any first class match since then. Which, in itself, is a pathetic situation. How are the guys going to stay competitive if we do not give them the practice they desperately need? That's my Q to BCB.

A Test win for sure.
Anything can happen in a shorter version of game on any given day. From that perspective we will still win the ODIs here and there against the big boys. But in the Test arena its been long due for us to prove our potential.

Tehsin,
you forgot your Chatgaiya. Chatgaiya grammer is not same as Bangla. So this would be
Test to jittam naw phair zoom, so ODI win loiyene khushi taikhum.
T_E,
it is not a tough choice. For the next three years I am prepare to take even 1-2 test series loss than 2-1 ODI series win againest any of those so called Big shots.

we never had the time to play FC cricket. according to me, we should have asked the PCB to stick in 2 tests when we toured or heck asked for 3. then of course the aussie tests got shifted. and you can't really blame them...much.
btw, tehsin bhai, we are more likely to win a test than to draw one.
this NZ team is woefully weak in batting. even with fleming we all outed them without much difficulty. if enam can work his mojo, the kiwis will be in some trouble. i'm kinda glad the practice match got washed out, they won't have any remembrance of enam from the test in january.
add in shahadat and in form mash, and we should bundle the kiwis out under 300. we just need to bat up to our potential.
hopefully tamim will fire, and i am impressed with junaid's temperement. i think our temperemnt is actually quite good.
tamim - moderate temperement, excellent talent
junaid - great temperement, moderate skill at this point
rahim - great temperement, moderate skill, excellent potential
ash - could have excellent temperement (some of our longest innings are his)
raqib - great temperement if he is fit to play
naeem - great temperement
sakib - moderate temperement

I dont think BD team is in a state to win a test match against NZ, and it sounds harsh but BD doesnt quite deserve a test victory now. They have to start over again from ODIs....

I think you guys misinterpreted the question of this poll... It asks "If you could only have one which one would you choose?". Not which option do you think is more likely to happen.
Having said that, I don't think it's that hard of an option. If we win a Test match against New Zeland, there wouldn't be any doubts about Bangladesh playing Test cricket for a long time. Plus winning a Test match against a major team will give our players more confidence for the future, Tests and ODI's included.
Plus, any team can have a good day or two and win a few ODI's. Test cricket is the real deal for the players and they must be on top of their game for almost 5 days to win a match.
I say we win a Test match, and wait for the silence of Bangladesh cricket critics. And the ODI series win will come shortly.

I'm not sure why we're even talking about test win here. Our main focus is now to win the ODI series.. 1 step at a time.. if we can win the ODI series, it will be our first series win against the top opposition.. so guys think sensibly here.. we couldn’t even get close to them in the 2nd ODI match and we’re talking about test win here.. as for my opinion, I don't think BD should be playing test match at all until they can prove themselves that they can be competitive in ODIs.. winning once in a blue moon doesn’t give us our reputation back that we lost long ago..

thanks for pointing it out. I want Bangladesh to be the World Champion in cricket.... and winning a test match against NZ will definitely take us one step closer to that.
just to add: our dreams are just toooo big for now (world champ/ winning test against NZ).... i always like to keep my feet on the ground......
