Rafique forced to play NL despite injury.
This makes no sense. BCB should really do a better job of protecting our assets. Rafique wanted to rest a few days before returning to play in National League as hasn't fully recovered form the injuries sustained during the Zimbabwe series. But BCB threatened to cut his pay if didn't play.
If for this foolish and irresponsible act, Rafique suffers permament injury then what.
I am hopping mad.

I somehow can't believe this one. May be the reporter got a false tip. I don't think BCB is dumb enough to force Rafiq and risk injury.

yeah, this is ittefaq, they have history of writing BS.
Rafique wasn't even played against Zim in ODI because of injury, why would they force him to play in NL?
It could be more like, rafique felt obligated to play, despite his injuries, because he would be subjected to loosing match fees; which by the way applies to everyone.
Why would he be payed match fee if he doesn't play?

As the story published in a well-circulated newspaper, BCB should immediately come up with their fact. It’s really disgusting either way…

Its a simple logic. When BCB can give him rest from ODI, how can they force him to play a 1st class match??
This report does not make sense... Must be something wrong soemwhere

Those of you who do not believe this report to be true, I sincerely hope you're right. I would hate to see such an irresponsible act commited by the country's highest authority on cricket.

I don't see Rafique to be the kind of person who can be bogged down by BCB. I think he's the kinda of person who will do whats best for his country. And i don't think he will take unneccessary steps to aggravate his injury like playing National League just for a few thousand taka!

as the report says..BCB warned Rafiq of fining him his 'Monthly Salary'.. not his 'Match Fee'
Rafiq is one of the players of BCB who gets monthly salary from the board.

Rafique out for a month--This is exactly what I was afraid of. I just found out from another thread in BC that he aggravated his injuries during the last day of the Dhaka Vs Sylhet match. God only know how serious this is. Now what!!!

Politics is everywhere, even though the national selectors resigned and the coach was fired, the officials of the BCB remains the same after the world cup 2003. So why won't this report of Ittefaq be even 'half true'?

Mind sharing the politics behind forcing someone to play despite his injuries in a not-so-important games, while not letting him play in very important one-day series because of his injuries?
Eagerly waiting.
When a player is unfit to play he will not play, the decision to play or not is solely his own.
While comparably less important players like masri and his likes are asked to bowl limited number of overs per week, why would anyone "politicize" rafique to play despite his injuries is beyond my understanding.
It's either poor journalism (not a surprise there) or poor interpretation of the actual event. I will go with the second one.

Apart from the HH ODi fiasco, BCB has shown to be professional and full of common sense in recent months. I doubt anyone associated with them would risk injury to Rafique.

On the bright side
its only a hamstring strain! I think we are overreacting. The England series is months away and Rafique isn't even going to Duleep anyway. He doesn't have any serious injury, like a torn ligament or bone fracture or anything. The man has pulled a muscle and it will be fine after a bit of rest, which he can take plenty of! Missing a month of action right now is hardly anything to lose sleep over. Let him have his month off. He can get back to playing the final half of the NL which will be more competitive and exciting anyway!

After Rafique's injury now BCB selectors are restricting our five national pacers to bowl 30 overs and not more then that to protect them from injury. A good move but too late for Rafique!
My question is that why they did not think in the same way in case of Rafique while he was injured?

I get the feeling that some of our BC readers are more injured than Rafique - mentally that is !
Let's just read Sham's stuff and be kool, ok !

if the report were true, it would have been appeared on some other more active newspaper. i can't just believe that eafaak found a news like that and none other did. keep in mind that the only thing eafaak good at finding is bangla movie add.
another point to consider is that, cricket is the only way of income for rafique and 3 families completely depend on him.
would it be possible that rafique needed that money badly and risked the injury?

yesterday one bangla daily also said the same thing but unfortunately I forgot that source. On the other hand Bhorerkagoj also indirectly reported this.

Actually Sham, I think this can be a bit more serious than that. Hamsring injury CAN be tricky if not trated properly. You see what happens is that it is easy to feel 100% without being totally healed. Under those circumstances its easy to think you're Ok when you actually need more rest. This may lead to permanent damage. BCB may have that mistake and made Rafique play. But I think they should've known better.
I too think Rafique should be 100% in time for England but the fact that BCB wasn't able to(or refused to) understand the seriousness of the situation bothers me. They simply should've known better.

no wonder he hasnt been getting many wickets over the past few days.
i dont know whether the accusations against the bcb are correct, but he definitely shouldn't have played (or been played) in the national league - it's totally useless, and he really has nothing to prove. he deserves a rest as much as bashar does.
