Bangladesh vs India One-off Test. Discussion
Bhai hokkol.
What should our line up be like ?
I would have wanted Rubel, Taskin and Fizz on the side for sure with one mystery spinner(do we have one ). Or at least someone who can vary length and speed of his deliveries consistently even though he may not turn the ball a country mile.
I hope Sabbir does well here with his batting. He is the guy I have my hopes on.
Shakib has been mercurial to be honest on the NZ tour, dunno if he will get a first call for an IPL berth.
Mominul also was a quiet solid presence when he got his act together.
To sum it up we need folks with a methodical and rational mindset.

Well if your 4th generation is lucky enough, they might be able to see the win against INDIA in test.

Test 11 vs IND
We would need tons of runs on board to win/draw against IND. We don't get to play tests, so we don't have solid test batsman yet, specially at no. 3 and 4. To me, Mominul seems more no. 4 batsman than no. 3 type. Had high hopes for Mullah at any of these roles, he failed terribly (now I think he should be dropped). Hence, want to try with S. Nafees.
I don't consider Rubel to be a test bowler, but kept him only for his record against IND. But seriously, any 3rd seamer or Taijul (for a spinny wicket) can replace him.
This is my selection considering everyone is fit to play single test:
1. Tamim Iqbal
2. Imrul Kayes
3. Shahriar Nafees
4. Mominul Hoque
5. Mushfiqur Rahim (C+W)
6. Shakib Al Hasan
7. Sabbir Rahman
8. Mehedi Hasan
9. Rubel Hossain
10. Taskin Ahmed
11. Mustafizur Rahman
Everything will come down to 2nd inning of BD. For example, if BD bats first, this can happen:
- BAN makes 400+ in 1st inning (<1.5 day)
- IND makes 500+ in their 1st inning (3.5 day)
- BAN trail by >100 runs and needs to stand minimum 120 overs for their 2nd inning

To draw (forget about win) a TEST against INDIA, we have to bat all 5 days ! After having ~600 runs in our first inning, we lost the TEST against NZ. So bat all 5 days.

My question to everyone.
Does this test count in the Test point system? Long time back, I read somewhere (Most likely Zim playing one off test) that only series is counted towards the ranking points.

After you posed this question, I went to the ICC Predictor on the link below, and was playing along....Here are the scenarios:
As of now, Bangladesh are on 9th place with 62 rating points; while India are 1st with 120 RATING POINTS:
i) MATCH DRAWN- BD moves up to 64 Rating points, while India loses 1 and shifts down to 119. BD-9th, INDIA-1st
ii) INDIA WINS- BD loses 1 point and shifts down to 61 rating points, while INDIA also loses 1 rating point. BD-9th, INDIA-1st
iii) BD WINS- BD moves up to 67 rating points, while India loses 3 and drops to 117. BD-9th, INDIA-1st
Nobody loses their place in the rankings...regardless of result

What sorcery is this? We lose point even after wining? It makes perfect sense now why India was reluctant to invite BD.

I don't know ...play with the rankings predictor all want...
I understand that this doesn't make sense..probably a glitch.
Someone with a more in-depth understanding of the rankings can help us out with this...

It's not about points. It's about politics and money. India will still play England and Australia even if they ranked low... The big 3 look after each other, kind of like a cartel.

Yes it does. Its an official test.
We lost points due to one off loss vs ZIM.
Gained points from one off draw vs India last year.

If India fields full strength regular squad, Bangladesh will have to play out of their skin to avoid innings defeat, draw is out of the equation. England suffered innings defeats in two consecutive tests even after repeatedly scoring 400+ in their first innings.

Agree. (Did you see BD C team playing against NZ?)

By now you should know not to compare teams. We don't have bowlers of Board/Anderson/Stokes to bowl for us in the sub-continent environment. They don't have Fizz-Miraz either. Have patience and enjoy the match. I'll just leave it at that.
I did agree in the first part though.

Please read post # 16, I will be more than pleased if Bangladesh could make this test competitive and interesting, however most probably it is going to be a one sided match considering the gap between two teams.
You are underestimating England big time here, We did not produce any turners for the Eng series, England arguably has the best batting line up in world with a very decent bowling, beating them on flat pitches requires supreme level of skills and consistency. Bangladesh will have to produce something otherworldly to draw the test.

New era of rivalry started in 15 WC. I'd say this test will kick it on. I know Indian fans would claim it down, but let's just say on subcontinent conditions next 2-3 years Bangladesh will be your biggest threat, challengers, competitors especially in ODI's, whether you would want to accept it or not.
I fancy. A draw, wicket will be flat. Hope Fzz is back it will be very known conditions for him having played for SRH. Must, need Nasir Hossain back in the side too many lefties at the top, can't bat too many lefties at top, we need to mix it up. I'd like Sarkar at 3, Nasir or Sabbir at 4, Mushy 5, Sakib 6.
As for pacers, I'd go with Kamrul, Fizz, Taskin. Shakib and Miraz the spinners, Nasir with useful overs too.

Many Indian fans may not agree with this but I see the point in your post, as I already mentioned in some other thread that with Pakistan going south we need a strong sub continental rival to keep the passion alive, Bangladesh is already a tough opponent in limited overs, no doubt about that, It is just that I don't think they will be able to pose enough challenges against us in test.
There is nothing snobby about my post BTW, I am just being pragmatic, Bangladesh is a damn good ODI team but in the longer format they are not equipped enough to trouble India in India.

This post reminds me of that old joke -
Two ants were walking on a tree branch in the jungle, collecting food for their colony. For some reason, one ant fell off the branch and landed on the back of an elephant that was standing under the tree. What did the the first ant say to the ant that fell on the elephant's back? Dabaa de saale ko - loosely translates to - Come on bro, Crush that fool!
chillax. Don't get your chaddis twisted. Its just a joke. Well some of the local trolli-babu-moshai can do it, I don't mind.
On a serious note, BD are an improved side, and the game is sure to be interesting. As an Indian fan, I want the team to use this as a high quality practice game. And I am looking for our fast bowlers to make a meaningful impact on the game - regardless of the track.

India's strength is in batting and spin bowling.

It makes sense they don't invite number 9 ranked test side? But it makes sense aus to invite a number 8ranked odi side for 5 odis? . That's the reason we have disunity in the desi brotherism, "snobby attitude"
