its an ODI tournament put together by ICC to generate additional revenue. BD hosted the inagural tournament but was not part of it. Its supposed to be every two years with hosting resposibilities rotating to each test playing nation.
There is no fixed format. It has been knockout and groups in the past. The most recent one was in India in 2006 where the top 6 automatically qualified, and 7-10 (SL, WI, BD, ZIM) had to play each other where the top two qualified.
The 2008 (supposed to be in PAK) got postponed and will happen in SA this year.
The format is 2 groups (AUS/WI/IND/PAK and SA/ENG/NZ/SL) with group winners and runner ups going to the semi finals. Only the top 8 ranked were picked for this edition.

On recent performance alone, Bangladesh deserve to be in it, instead of WI.

is WI going to play champions trophy with the same team tht played against BD ??? If so, then ICC should give a chance to BD instead of WI. Or WI could manage to play their best side, then its okay..otherwise, ICC should act in favour of BD considering recent performance !

Yes if they are not playing with their first XI, they should be replaced by Bd. ICC cant let their standards go down if a country sends their 3rd or 4th squad, after all it should be among the top 8 teams, right?

This will most likely be the last installment of Champions Trophy. Not much room in the international calendar anymore.
I wish BD would take the initiative to arrange some sort of annual tournament. Here's a suggestion: A combined effort with SL where 8 nations (BD, SL, 2 other Test nations and 4 associates) play a T20 tournament.
BD and SL host the two groups with themselves, another Test nation and 2 associates.
One country hosts the 2nd round (SL1 vs. BD2, SL2 vs. BD1, SL2 vs. BD2, BD1 vs. SL2) and the other country hosts a best of three final (the roles can alternated annually).

I doubt that.
Too much T20 (more than the occasional match and IPL)
would suck so bad

No interest in this; BD should have been there. Not only because WI isn't a better team but why we should be left out as a test playing nation?

I wonder how many fans here follow a tournament BD is not involved in? There was a time when I would watch/follow every possible international cricket match regardless of who was playing.
Nowadays, unless BD is playing or they are part of it (WC, Tri-series, Asia cup) etc., I'm just content to check up on the score on cricinfo at my leisure.
Maybe that should be a seperate poll topic on its own.

Decent thing for WICB would be to back away from the tourny and let Bangladesh play. But I guess ICC can't kick out WI for not sending their best team to the tourny.

I am happy our boys are not playing champions Trophy. They need a little rest. Also Month of Ramadan. Let us refuel and then get ready for the domestic cricket.
Would I follow? Well I will know the scores but not watch or try to watch. just like Ashes.

The best Champions Trophy was held in Bangladesh. BCCI forced Bangladesh out of the tourney. Since then, this thing has been put off 3-4 times.
I am so hoping this shindig gets postponed once more, then gets completely scrapped.
