Default second day tid-bit: stats can be deceiving!

Pre-lunch session:

Rafique vs. Enamul

People can forgiven if they thought Rafiq is bowling better than Enamul if they are simply following the text commentary, or periodically looking at the scores, and not actually watching the game. After all Rafique has two wickets and Enamul has none. Yet such a notion is gross injustice to Enamul.

Enamul has bowled some great deliveries, which turned sharply, spat off the pitch, varied his line and length, and continually attacked the batsmen. He beat the batsmen several times, and on another day, he may have had two wickets by now. In fact he built up a considerable amount of pressure and uncertainty (not necessarily by getting maidens- attacking a batsmen will envitably result in some runs). Rafique on the otherhand, was rather ordinary by his standards. Though he had his moments, he strayed too often down the leg-side, giving away easy singles. His two wickets were the result of batsmen going after him and not getting it right. In a way, he benefitted from the uncertainty created by Enamul. Still, I am not complaining

Manjrekar

whats up with this man? He has no secret of the fact that he does not think Bangladesh is "of international standard", and his condescending tone as he queried Sri Lanka's studied and defensive batting to our tight bowling was very irritating indeed! I hope we manage to shut him up with a good performance on the field.

Shahadat's grunt

Mahela protested that Shahadat's grunt was distracting and confusing him. Things got a little edgy as Shahadat continued to grunt (but in a more subdued fashion). It is good to see Bashar supporting and backing his young fast bowler.

don't blame him, blame people who employ him. i would have ignored him if he was doing commentary for india against other oppositions. these people don't even consider the feelings of millions of viewers. his job is suppose to entertain viewers with his commentary, not to rub salts in the wounds.

Well well well

why don't we start complaining that we don't want to play against "chuckers" like murali. Surely chuckers are more criminal than grunters.

PS: personally, I don't like to think of murali as a chucker, but if the lankan batsmen start complaining about something like grunting, surely they can't talk when they know we can justifiably complain about chucking.

coming back to Manjrekar's comments, he also misread the pitch and how difficult it was to get runs. And so the Sri lankans should be commended to have taken a slow approach.

Mangeker is a good for nothing commentator. He comments as good as his batting was which is zero. He thinks SL should finish the game in 2 days so that he can go back to his room and study more how to bat....

Stupid....

And about the grunting the batsmen didn't had right to complain as the other commentator pointed out. Cause the law says if some body in field is doing something deliberately to distract the batsman then they can complain but here he was doing that from the first day no body complain and when they couldn't (batsmen) hit him then they started to notice this. The ump should have told the batsmen that they need to get use to it instead they talked with our bowler. OUr captain and F***ing manager should take this to icc and for now to Clive loyed that ump shouldn't have cautioned the bowler they didn't had any right....

Though I respect the SLankan team for its quality, their on-field level of honesty has always been more towards the lower end.

Manjekar was badly hit on the head by the West Indians in the 80s. Let him say what he wants. For most of the BD bashers out their, this typically is the only source of gratification in their lives.

I think this was another ploy played by Mahela to disrupt Shahadat's rythm. There is no direct rule availabe in the CRiket rule book which mentioned about this unique situation. So Umpires were not able to do anything about this. And the way BASHAR handled this I really started liking him as a Captain.

Thanks Pompous.

didn't see the game. Wouldn't have realized how good Enamul bowled without your tid bits.
