Default Is it time for ashraful to be removed from the team?

He has failed again and again......it is noones birth right to be in the team despite numerous failures..........dont we have any reinforcementsfor this terrible player atleast a replacement would score double digits

Open a thread for Rakibul before you open a thread for Ashraful!

As far as I'm concerned, Ash gets the chop for the second test.

yes...he should be permenently cut from the Test team. its not a form issue, its an attitude issue. its not even about confidence. his stroke play said this, "we're 240-2 so i can play any shot i want, if i get out, raqib, sakib, mushy will pick up my slack"

the guy has no hunger for runs unless that chuck artist murali is bowling doosras at him...time to kick his azz out.

the ODI series will be his last chance to hang onto a spot in the team at all, but even should he hit 3 hundreds in that series, he needs to leave test cricket for a year, and can only come back when he has shown a REAL change in attitude. a couple NCL double tons won't cut it anymore...the team is beyond that point in our cricket saga.

I agree.

Ash can at least be a partnership breaker bowler. As well, with mash out, hes useful by helping Sakib at captaining.

excellent post look at the heart mash showed as a captain in 1st innings shows what weve been missing for captain position

I got the same feeling. And if he gets chopped once..there is no coming back for him if the person in position plays Even slightly better than him. And surely he will

I was a bit skeptical about having three openers in the side and still believe that Imrul's gotta convert these twenties to have a permanent spot in the team, but Ash has just made the selectors' jobs easier as far as the line up for the second test is concerned.

Now the question is: Ash out, Mehrab in OR Ash out, Enam in?

I say Ash out, Rock out, Mehrab in, Enam in. We're playing too many batsmen - an extra spinner would come in handy especially if Mash can't play the next game. Then again, things depend on the nature of the surface in the second test. I wouldn't be surprised if they sneak Robin into the XI if the pitch is livelier than the one we're playing on right now.

well, it's a common theory that dropping Ash once in a while is the only medicine. Drop him, HE'll comeback by hook or by crook. Don't be mistaken by his cavelier batting, if he wants, he can bat like a master.

Currently my Grandma could replace him. She has a mean swing of arms and can surely score more than 3.

Yes we should kick Ashraful out, replace him with Nafees Iqbal, play 4 openers lol much better than playing a tailender Ashraful, right not replace him with Mehrab Jnr, for those guys who are praising his leg spin, he is in the team as a specialist batsman not a spinner. For crying out loud he scored 9 runs from both innings, even Shahadat played way better than him

thats the problem he doesn't want to.

ashraful is a unique case, probabyl never seen before in cricket history. a limitless talent, from a nation with little infrastructre - and hence no real guidance or education -, playing on the crappiest of Test teams, so he's heralded as a hero/genius/whatever, building his ego to epic magnitudes.

he simply doesn't want to bat like a master, preferring others to do the hard work. thats the problem. had we been 40-5, instead of 240-2, ash would have played a better knock than he did. he may have only scored 1 more run, or he could have scored 100 more runs. he never shows up when the rest of the team does, arguably the most important time.

the only thing he understands is to cut him from the team permemently. let him prove his worth in the domestic scene, where he should average above 50 in any format of the game. let him play on the A team for a full season. let him come back to the team on merit at age 27 or 28.

he's still my favorite player, and will likely always be, but right now anyone can do better than him since he only scores more than 40 runs against SL. bring on mehrab, and naeem. SN, aftab, alok can also join the fight for his spot soon enough.

If he were my son, a session with the stick daily untill he learns to apply himself would be my prescription. Greats aren't made, they are self-made. Evidently Ash greatness exists in his mind and in my mind.

Spot on. I think Ash needs to concentrate more on bowling just like Afridi did. He has potentials to be a very good spinner.

Gadha should be given one more Test. If he doesnt score atleast 50 runs both innings combined then gets the lathi.

Today he was under instruction to play his natural game (T20 style) to give us some quick runs. But still I dont think anyone would have given him license "to pull a straight one accross the line"

He should be replaced in the second test only if there is someone to take his place but who will?
Please don't say Aftab, Kapali bla bla bla. I am refering to someone who is already in our WI squade right now!!

Rakibul did very well indeed and nicely position in the squade. He contributed 32 runs in total in both innings combined whereas Ashraul contributed only 9. Rakibul face 73 balls like a true test player. I am not even going to count how many Ash faced. Ash's fielding was quite poor yesterday.. ok he got a wicket but at the mo I just cannot justify he being in the team.

What we need is give him a break not a kick. Keep him away for a series, let him cool down a little, let him play some domestic matches and come back like a star and make his place permanent for the next 5/6 years just like Rahul Dravid or Ganguli. He does not deserve a 'kick'.
